As a waitress, I feel like my personality is lost in my uniform. My new 2 tone wingtips are a great conversation piece with customers. As hard as I try, I have not been able to slip and fall in the kitchen. I always wanted a pair of these shoes in high school and now...they are covered in food! Thank you Dr. Marten Boots. over all i do not regret that i bought these shoes, they were a steal @ 29.99! i have owned these shoes before (euro made) and i must say, had i paid any more i would not have kept them. the leather is stiff, and almost looks fake. i am hoping a little wear will help, but i know my other pairs of docs did not need to be broken in like these will. all in all the style is...

Why are you manufacturing your product in China? No offense to the Chineese people but it appears that some of your stitching appears to have been painted on. Good luck with that! Brandy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beatiful, but too much room., March 11, 2010

I had a pair of the original doc martin black and whit wingtips made in England quite a few years ago and I can really notice a difference. These are REALLY nice shoes (of course they are.. they're docs!) but these new ones a are somewhat lacking in the quality of the old days.

These are made with the smooth, not quite Patent, leather uppers. Easy to polish and easy to clean. If you take care of them (polish and wax regularly) they'll last you just as long as any other Dr. Martens shoes (If you've ever had a pair you know that's a LONG time.)

As some of the previous reviews mentioned, the toe box is really.. well, boxy. There's way too much room. If you get a smaller size then the shoe isn't long enough or tall enough and your heel will slide out. The best recommendation I can make is get them in your size and get a pair of thick insoles. Not too thick though. As I siad, it's low around the heel and your ankle might slip out too easily.

Luckily these are blessed with the original "BEX" tread. Unlike most of the newer Asian-made Dr. Martens with the "VDM" or as I call them "Sideways slippery" soles, these have their nicer, thicker soles that will ctually give you some good traction. As is with ALL the BEX-soled shoes (especially newer ones) they have the tendancy to squeak on slick surfaces like hardwood or tile floors. this will go away once the shoes are worn in pretty well. Also, don't be suprised if this thicker sole adds about 1"-1 1/2" to your height. They are some beefy shoes. That cold be good or bad depending on who you are.

I gave these shoes four stars for "I like it" rather than three for "It's OK" mainly because of the looks. Who can argue the beauty of Black & White wingtip shoes? These are the exact same shoes every guy in the Brian Setzer Orchestra wears to EVERY concert (except Brian who always sports the ever classic Creepers). I love the look but I'm saddened by the lowered standards of quality and lack of custom fit.

Thanks for reading! Hope it helped.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Original Choice, February 16, 2007
Love these shoes! This is my 3rd pair of Doc's and I prefer the comfort over a pair of sneakers any day of the week. I recommend them to everyone, a bit more pricey than your average shoe, but definitely worth every last cent. The ONLY gripe that I have about the wingtips is that in my other two pairs of Doc's I have them in UK 6...so I ordered these in a UK 6 and they are a bit more roomy for some reason? I always have to wear thick socks or two pairs of reg. socks to take up space! I would probably go for a smaller size if I had to do it all over again! But all in all, an excellent pair of shoes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why did I wait so long to buy these?, November 6, 2006
I bought these shoes because I thought they looked cool and they do. They look amazing. This is my first and, so far, only pair of Docs. Therefore I was unaware of one amazing fact. They are truly the most comfortable shoes I have ever placed on my feet. I bought them without a single concern for comfort. If they hut my feet, big deal, they look great. Imagine my genuine suprise when I took a few steps in them and felt the air-cushioned soles and perfect fit. The price kept me from buying them previous to now. I'm certainly not the type of guy that wears a hundred dollar pair of shoes. They are made like they will last forever and they feel like walking on air. Now I know why everyone who owns Doc Martens swears by them. I should have bought these years ago.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not comparable to UK-made Docs at all., July 27, 2007
By
I wanted replace my 3-year-old UK-made Docs. I had read a few bad reviews about the new Chinese-made Docs, but I decided to give them a try. As soon as I took them out the box, I noticed the difference. Cheap looking. Tried them on and they felt and looked no better than similar, knock-off styles of shoes that fall apart in a year or so. As for my 3-year-old UK-made Docs? They still have some mileage left in them and they're staying on my feet until I find something with more quality.

This is my third pair of Docs. They are just as comfortable as the other two. A very unique looking pair of shoes.

These are nice shoes, but they run large. They flop around on my foot, and I'll have to get some inserts to take up some of the room in the toe-box. I wish I could send these back for the smaller size, but I already wore them.

LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE! The UK sizes are hard to deal with since they don't have half-sizes. I finally figured out with my last few purchases (after 15 years of wearing them):

If you are ordering a model MADE FOR WOMEN go to the next whole size bigger (i.e. US 7.5, should order a US 8)

If you are ordering a UNISEX pair go DOWN a half size (i.e. US 7.5, get US 7)

1.0 out of 5 stars Ordered and NOT received after 4 months, and still waiting, August 25, 2011

Hi. I ordered this item on 4 May 2011.
At the time of order, it is still "IN STOCK"

However till now 25 August, I am still waiting. I hope Amazon can fullfilled the order as they commit.
Now they have replied mentioning that the stock inventory is not correct and they actually do not have this item.

Amazon is not doing enough to get this item.
It is a BIG Disgrace that they are not able to fullfill a order after 4 months.

Totally not acceptable in term of serving the customer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great so far., July 6, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have Doc Martens that I still wear that were purchased in the 90's. I have read reviews of the newer ones that imply they are not made to the same standards. I hope that isn't the case, but so far, my new docs have held up well, look great and feel great.
