5.0 out of 5 stars Comfy work boots!
My husband wears these to work everyday. It started out when he found a pair a pair at Goodwill. (not sure why someone got rid of a practically new pair of Dr Martens). He absolutely loved them and found them to be more comfortable than any other work boot- even some twice the price. They are light weight and durable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Comffy shoes but is it worth the extra money?
I like these shoes a lot but are they really worth almost a $100 more than the sketchers I bought a year earlier. As soon as you put them on you can feel the extra cushioning but would say cushioning insoles be just as effective and cheaper to boot? I guess it is one's individual preference. Me, I wish now I had just purchased another pair of Sketchers and bought some Dr...

We were not able to find this style in stock anymore in the stores. Some stores were willing to order them for him though. He came home and was able to find them on Amazon- and for a great price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the Money, May 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dr. Martens Men's Saxon 8287 Lace To Toe Boot (Apparel)
There was a question as to whether or not these were worth the money, as say compared to Sketchers. The answer is absolutely. I originally bought these boots six years ago and have worn them nearly every day since until about a week ago when I finally had to replace them...with another pair which I bought here on Amazon.

First, these boots last. I have a "plain clothes" type of job and I wear these to work everyday and they stand up to the elements, prolonged walking and they are even comfortable to run in. I have also owned Sketchers, and while they are not bad, they would never stand up to the abuse I give my Docs, and they certainly would not have lasted as long. With minimum care, these will last for many years, even with rugged, daily use.

Concerning comfort and fit, they are amazing. The reason I wear these everyday at work is because they are the most comfortable boot I have ever owned. Their soles are amazingly comfortable and have great shock absorption. They are very comfortable if you have to stand or walk for a good part of the day. The soles flex and cushion very, very well. I would honestly compare their comfort level to that of an athletic shoe. I wear a size 13 US and I find them to size correctly.

As far as construction and materials, well, they're Doc Martens. These boots use a full-grain, heavyweight leather with Goodyear construction. The uppers and the soles are actually sewn together, which you're not going to find on Sketchers. In my last pair, the leather actually wore through, but never separated from the sole. These boots are built solidly and to last. The construction and materials are outstanding.

All in all, I would certainly recommend these to anyone who needs a tough, comfortable and good-looking boot. I am an old white guy, so I can't comment on style since I have no idea what is cool. I like the look a lot and lace-to-toe is my favorite. If you are trying to compare these to other similar items, the actual name for these boots is "8287 Flex Link Bex Sole Peanut Grizzly". The Peanut Grizzly part describes the color and leather type. Great boots, my favorite by far. These are my second pair, and I am going to buy a third just to have, since everything I really like people tend to stop making.

Only time will tell if these outlast my last pair of boots and if so than that will be another plus.
