5.0 out of 5 stars A cute and comfortable shoe
I've purchased Doc sandals and boots before and think these are great. They are a good, sturdy shoe and I have always been pleased with this brand. I usually wear a 9.5 and sometimes a 9, depending on the shoe. I purchased these in a 9 and they fit just fine. Other Docs I've purchased have also been in 9 because I've tried a 10 and it was way too big. I wear them to...

I have had these shoes for about a month now. Positively, they seem to be very well made. They have a removable leather insole, which is also nice. You can replace it with a different insole or add a padded insole under the leather one that comes with the shoe (there is enough room for that). They are roomy enough for my wide, flat feet, and my toes have plenty of wiggle...

3.0 out of 5 stars Would have given 2 1/2 stars, October 3, 2010
I have had these shoes for about a month now. Positively, they seem to be very well made. They have a removable leather insole, which is also nice. You can replace it with a different insole or add a padded insole under the leather one that comes with the shoe (there is enough room for that). They are roomy enough for my wide, flat feet, and my toes have plenty of wiggle room. In fact, I replaced the leather insoles with two pairs of padded insoles to build up the inside because there was a little too much space in there. Finally (but still important!), I think the shoes are very cute.

Now for the bad. These things hurt! I've never owned shoes that hurt like these do. I waited to write a review in case the shoes just needed breaking in, but they still hurt the top of my foot where the vertical strap presses against the bone. I put 1/8" moleskin padding under the straps, and that helps, but it doesn't completely eliminate the pressure. Also, I have the straps buckled fairly loosely. They used to hurt the bones below my big toes (where bunions would be, if I had them :)), but a long breaking in period seemed to take care of that.

Also, I tend to clump around in these shoes, as though I were wearing big work boots or something. I'm not sure if it's because the shoes are heavy or if it's because the soles are not terribly flexible.

Overall, the shoes are cute, well-made, and fit my foot, but they hurt. For the price I paid (on clearance at a store for 50 bucks) and the claims made about the shoes, I expected them to be MUCH more comfortable.

If any of you die-hard Doc Marten fans out there can give me tips for making these shoes "work," please share them!! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Doc Martens Mary Jane, January 14, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I had a pair of these shoes, way back in 1997, they were stolen from my baggage, and I had never seen them for sale anywhere.. UNTIL I went on Amazon, and the price was phenomenal.. I couldn't get them direct, so the company I dealt with, sent them ALL AROUND America, until they could be delivered to me. It took ages for me to get them, but I was not disappointed, the company kept me notified of the delivery (about two months), but boy was it worth it, the shoes are BRILLIANT, I wore them continually until our weather heated up, I even went to a moody blues concert wearing them!! I compared the price to one in our local store, who hadn't got them, but could get them to order, their price was three times that of Amazon!!! A truly amazing purchase, thank you

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Shoes, November 14, 2011

I am about to replace a pair of these I have had for over five years. I have worn them nearly everyday. The soles are worn out to the point that they are dangerous on a wet day, but still have some wear left in them. The uppers still look great! The best and most comfortable shoes I have ever owned.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love these shoes!!!!, July 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
When I first saw these shoes, I had to have them. And when I got them and started to wear them, I was really satisfied. These shoes are really good work shoes for the office, they're comfortable and the heel doesn't get squishy or run over like the other office shoes I previously had due to my size.
If you're looking for good office work shoes, I recommend these shoes!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Shoes.com glitch, October 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I would like to know how these shoes are, but unfortunately Shoes.com sent me the wrong size and they won't exchange for the correct size, the size I actually ordered! It appears that there is a glitch between Amazon and Shoes.com. When you order, it changes the size from UK size to USA size, which means you wind up with a shoe two sizes too small.

Now shoes.com is telling me that I can return the shoes for a refund, but I can't exchange FOR WHAT I PAID FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE.
They are now asking me to re-order directly from them.

something fishy going on

1.0 out of 5 stars Wrong size and lengthy delivery!, December 14, 2010
I had the exact same problem as the woman in the previous review! I ordered a size 7 UK and received a size 7 US. In addition, the shoes took TWO WEEKS to arrive. Now onlineshoes.com wants a restocking fee and wants to charge me for the initial shipping, even though it was their error! I have no idea why I didn't use Zappos, which delivers in one day and does not charge for shipping or return. I will never use Amazon to order shoes again!
