Product Description

Amazon. com Product Description

The Dr. Martens Women's Dia Boot completes your daytime look with retro chic. This ankle-high boot features burnished leather uppers with a zip side entry and a casually rounded toe. Three oversized buttons adorn the outer panel, complemented by stitched accents throughout. The shoe is finished with a low, wrapped, cone-shaped heel that features eye-catching contrast stitching at the back seam. These hot boots look great with leggings and a tunic top, or dressed up with a pencil skirt and opaque tights.

From the Manufacturer

It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two founders decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460 (1/4/60). To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect for me!, October 14, 2008
Although more roomy than some might like, I am happy this boot is not too tight. The rubber sole is perfect for those folks who prefer a polished look without slipping on slick soles. AND this is one of the only affordable boots I've found with a cute heel thats not too high but still ultra feminine. I'll certainly buy another pair at some point!

1.0 out of 5 stars Look great, but break easily, April 12, 2009
This review is from: Dr. Martens Women's Dia Boot (Apparel)
I ordered these boots straight from the official US Dr. Martens store because 1 they were on sale and 2 they looked awesome online. Over the years I've heard nothing but good things about Dr. Martens and expected nothing less from them. When I got the boots I was disappointed to find out the zipper on the side of the boots split as soon as I put them on. I called customer service about them and was told they have been receiving that kind of problem a lot from different customers who also bought the DIA shoe. I would have liked to exchange them for a new pair since they actually were really cool looking, but I didn't want to take the chance that they would break again. I returned them (they wanted me to pay for the shipping, but I refused and made them send me a FED-EX postage sticker) and because of all this I will probably never buy another pair of Dr. Martens. It seems like their standards of shoemaking are not what they used to be.
