I now have two pairs of Dr. Marten 8 eyelet Pascal - I have monochrome red that I picked up here a few years ago, and the gold spectra. The monochrome - which are extremely difficult to find these days - are amazing. Every detail on them is red, including the stitching of the text on the back pull tab. The gold spectra boots I am finding a little tough to break in (but these are docs, after all). The gold colour is beautifully eye catching and it's a really great way to spice up an otherwise plain outfit. These are extremely comfortable boots as you would expect from Dr. Martens. I have also found the two pairs I have to be of very good quality compared to *some* of the other boots that come from the Asian factories. They are very tough. I wore the red ones every day for a year and aside from needing to be cleaned every so often, you can barely tell. The Pascal boots are my favourite of the 8 eyelet boots because they have the traditional style of the 1460s but they are a little more streamlined and not quite so bulky on the foot. They are very similar in style, but the shape is a little bit different and extremely flattering. It's hard to really see this in photos of the shoe itself, but it is obvious when you are wearing them. I actually never tie mine, either - I leave them with the laces hanging. Because they are more streamlined, they hug the foot a bit better so I find I do not really even need to tie them. I am a HUGE fan of the Pascal boot and I actually hope to purchase more of them. In fact I would not complain at all if they put out the Pascal boot in a 14 eyelet version, I am such a huge fan of this boot's silhouette/shape. They look great with leggings under a skirt or over skinny jeans. Purchase with confidence.

I ordered both the Pascals and the 1460s (from another store) for my daughter (age 17) to compare, assuming we would return one. The difference in the details are:
The Pascals leather is softer, with a slight pebbly finish, and the top (around your ankle) is a tiny bit shorter, and the leather is just cut off - making it more pliable, so it doesn't rub your ankle/leg. The 1460s are a stiffer leather with a smoother, shinier finish, and have a sewn hem type edging along the top. When she wore the 1460s she noticed two things. The top edging rubbed her leg just above the ankle, and her heel slipped and rubbed painfully where the heel cup and shaft join - right on her achilles. The size on the Pascals were comparable to the 1460s, but the Pascals were a tiny bit narrower, and more compact, making them look slightly more refined (not as combat looking). She liked both shoes, but chose the Pascals for three reasons - no painful break-in period; finish of the leather; and it was easier to return the 1460's purchased at a local store (rather than shipping back to Amazon seller). Hope this helps if you are trying to decide....

I ordered these boots in the cherry red patent design. SUCH CUTE BOOTS! The company who sold me these boots is called Elite Hero, though they were listed as being sold by Dr. Martens.

I was so stoked when I ordered these boots, and happy that I got them at a really great price. It took Elite Hero forever to ship the boots and then the boots took about a week to get to me, so overall I waited about 2 weeks before I received the boots. When I did receive them, they were super cute but I realized I had ordered the wrong size (I ordered a UK Size 8 instead of a US size 8) and contacted the seller for an exchange. It took Elite Hero about a week to respond to my request to exchange the boots - I filed a claim with Amazon because they were not responding. Elite Hero finally told me I would not be able to do an exchange with them only a return for refund, which seemed odd since I wanted to get the correct size boots from them. I settled for the refund even though I thought an exchange would be much quicker and easier. I also had to pay out of my own pocket to return the boots. They issued a refund to me before the boots had even reached their warehouse.

BUT! About a week and a half after I returned the boots, USPS delivered them back to me. ELITE HERO HAD REFUSED MY RETURN. Why? They put a note in the box stating that they had no record of an order for me and that they did not carry this style of boots in their store. I contacted them immediately. Once again, it took them forever to get back to me. I was forced to call Amazon to try to get them to send me a return label so I could once again send back the boots as I was afraid that Elite Hero would charge me again for the boots, but Amazon was unable to send me a label. Amazon was very polite and helpful but unable to really help other than by contacting Elite Hero themselves. Elite Hero finally got back to me after about 5 days of me emailing them. They asked me to ship the boots back to them again. They sent no return label as I had asked them to do. I was not going to pay out of pocket again to return the boots after their warehouse had refused them upon initial return. I just kept emailing them until FINALLY they sent me a return label with a note staying "we aren't sure why this happened or why you returned the boots in the first place." I couldn't believe that. After the tons of emails I sent them regarding the original issue of ordering the wrong size and then tons of emails regarding the boots being sent back to me they were still confused. And it isn't as though I didn't make the issues very clear for them, I was very very clear about why I needed to return the boots and in the first place and why I needed to return them again after they had been sent back to me.

In short, Elite Hero seems to be very disorganized and confused. I will not be purchasing the correct size boots from them after a month of ridiculous run-around.

I did want to love these boots, but was not 100% in love. Well, I"ll have to find a way to fall in love now - because when I went to return these, the mailing cost through USPS was $23 - and would have been $16 thru UPS, but Sneakers4U says "we only offer returns to our P.O. Box".... so either be 100% sure your fit will be fine, and color, and..... etc. - or be prepared to pay thru the nose for returns, or buy through an online store, like ShoeBuy, that offers free shipping BOT WAYS!!!. E Caveat Emptor!

Ordered an 8 in violet, which is actually a snakeskin iridescent that changes colors when you move. A little hard to find outfits that go with it that aren't all black, but the shoes are way too awesome to give up! The leather is soft and does not require much breaking in. The laces, though, were waxy and rough. I replaced them with some black statin laces from another pair of Docs, and they look and feel much better.

I'm a big fan of the DM Pascal boots and have them in several colors. However, the Virginia leather was thinner than the others and I was worried about durability. I ended up exchanging them for a pair of Women's 1460 Smooth Black, which actually has the same sole/fit as the Pascal and should last for much longer with the sturdier leather. However, if you want soft leather boot that doesn't need breaking in, this could be a great choice for you.

Got my Doc Marten's today! So excited though my family thinks I'm insane for buying this holographic type of color. I'm from the Caribbean but bought these babies to wear for a winter vacay in Canada. I think they're funky, been breaking them in all day with socks on & my baby toes and feet hurt (across the tongue area of the boot itself leaves indentations in my skin across my toes). Ouch! Hope it stretches soon.
<<< UPDATE: >>> These puppies were a big hit- got tons of compliments from random strangers, lol. Minus 1 star for the discomfort (that eased up but didn't entirely go away). But they're still so pretty, I smile when I look down at them! :D

I LOVE these boots! Many heads turned when I wore them with cute shorts & top. They are eye catching for sure and quite bright in the sunlight. You have to have the confidence to rock these boots because if you are a wallflower these wont be for you. I think they are fabulous! I will get some other colors as well.

These are super cool boots, a nice addition to my Dr Marten collection. Squeaky and stiff at first but that is to be expected from patent leather when new. Great fit, nicely made even though they are made in Thailand, 100% better than a white pair I bought which were made in Vietnam. Highly recommend these beauties. . !

These boots are spectacular & look FABULOUS - and my daughter gets lots of compliments on them. They reflect light/colors in wonderful ways and are really pretty.

Our only concern is that the material might be a bit delicate for the snowy winter we are having. I asked the Doc Marten company if there was anything we could do to protect the sparkly surface from our New England winter - their answer was... 'not realy... It is an issue with this material/finish.'

Of course, we didn't buy these boots with the intention of using them as "snow boots" - or hardly even "winter boots". They are a fashion statement, first and foremost!
