Amazon.com Product Description

A fresh take on a classic style, this two-strap mary jane from Dr. Martens pairs beautifully with everything from a simple dress to casual slacks. The shoe is distinguished by a Grizzly leather upper that's tumbled for softness, a rugged full-grain appearance, an embossed floral print on the toe, and "pinked" leather around the collar and vamp. The translucent PVC wedge sole, meanwhile, offers Dr. Martens' signature yellow stitching and a unique cross-pattern tread across the bottom.

From the Manufacturer

It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two founders decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460 (1/4/60). To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

5.0 out of 5 stars Doc Martens Mary Janes, November 9, 2006
I just love these shoes. Not only are they cute, but they are so comfortable. You would think that they would feel bulky but you hardly notice that you are wearing them. I would highly recommend these shoes if you are interested.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE THEM!!, February 8, 2008
After suffering through many pairs of uncomfortable shoes I decided to give Dr Martens a try... and I am so glad that I did!! I absolutely love the way they look and feel on my feet. They were comfortable right out of the box and become more and more comfy as they get broken in. I usually wear a sz 6.5, but since half sizes aren't an option, I ordered a 6 and it fits perfectly. I have gotten many compliments on them and my feet feel great!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well made, comfortable, cute shoe, January 1, 2008
This review is from: Dr. Martens Women's 2 Strap Mary Jane (Shoes)
I had been looking for a good, comfy, cute pair of brown mary-janes for close to a year now since my favorite pair broke down early last Spring. I had bought several and returned them because they didn't look as cute on my feet or in person as they did online or they just were not comfortable (I want to walk everywhere in NYC in them). Finally, I purchased these shoes, and am really happy. They fit just as my size should; they are very comfortable (especially after a little wearing in), and are very cute. The only caveats I have are that I don't love the 2 straps (which is just me, not a problem with the shoe) and that the leather itself is a little odd - kind of bumpy. But, overall, these are minor issues and I am a big fan of my new mary-janes. I have already worn them over much of NYC and am very happy.
