About the Author

Dr. Avaneda Hobbs has studied and been involved with some of the premiere colleges in the United States. A recipient of a bachelor's degree in Sociology. Dr. Hobbs graduated from Virginia Wesleyan College, one of America's top 100 colleges. She then furthered her education by receiving a master's degree in educational administration and a master's degree in church administration from SOT Institute. She later received two earned doctorate degrees; one in Educational Administration and the other in Communications and Counseling from SOT Institute.

Dr. Neda Hobbs has served as Vice President of Marketing and Product Development for TRD, Inc. She joined TRD after a twoyear tenure as the Executive Director of Institutional Development for the World Resource Outreach Company. Before the above positions, Dr. Hobbs served as the National Public Relations Director for GGE, Inc.

Dr. Hobbs is listed in Marquis 51st Edition of Who's Who In America, Marquis 25th Edition of Who's Who In The East, Marquis 19th Edition of Who's Who Of American Women, and the International Biographical Centre's 13th Edition of The World Who's Who of Women. She is also the recipient of a Washington, D.C. Mayoral Commendation for Active and Cooperative Leadership award. Dr. Hobbs was selected in 1992 to participate in a Congressional and White House briefing on the AfricanAmerican Family with President George Bush and Chief Justice Clarence Thomas. Avaneda Hobbs is the 1997 recipient of the prestigious Telly award. Featured in the 2000 release of the Women of Color Holy Bible are three articles written by Dr. Neda Hobbs.

In reading Dr. Avenda Hobbs book, Dr. Maya Angelou : As Seen Through the Eyes of America (Honoring a Woman Full of Life) Has really put me almost in Dr. Maya Angelou life. I feel she's the greatest poet of all time. I was very inspired by all the people whom lives she has touched. Including mine. Dr. Hobbs, text put Dr. Angelou closer to my heart. Dr. Angelou has encounter much to be where she is today & is admired by President Clinton, The Honorable Alexis Herman & Bill Cosby and so many more. What got my attention more than anything is the beautiful hardcover that surrounds this delicate book. The colors are such as kente cloth. Vibrate orange and earth tone colors - up close and personal - is Dr. Angelou's face. Humble as ever, a face of concern, but a face of knowledge, power(in her heart). This book is inevitable will go to the top of the charts. Dr. Hobbs, put her mind to work on this piece of art. It was extremely hard to put the book down. Great gifts, even for teenagers. It keeps you in tuned to know how this woman has indeed a big, big, enormous affect on people lives. In three days, I had finished the book it was complete and now it mounts on the bookshelf. Dr. Hobbs brought Dr. Angelou to my home & now I'm bringing it you.
