ugly but good,
This review is from: Dr. McDougall's Right Foods Vegan Tamale Soup with Baked Chips, 2.4-Ounce Cups (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
If you can get past the putrid appearance of the finished product, it's actually quite tasty. Not quite a true tamale taste, but close enough to satisfy the craving for the real thing. Ugly but Good!

Please don't believe the review that this soup is yucky, it is delicious and I am absolutely flabbergasted that anyone wouldn't like it. There are chunks of tamale and soft corn chips in there, beans, corn, all the good stuff. It is a super thick soup and is SO filling. I am going to stop ordering all the other flavors and stick to this one and the tortilla soup (that one is also very good).

This has a really gritty texture and tastes terrible. I had high hopes because the apple oatmeal is FABULOUS. Sadly, this is not!

You have to be careful when making this product- I recommend cooking in a microwave for a minute at a time and then mixing thoroughly for a total of three minutes. When I make it this way- it's amazing- one of my favorites! But otherwise it tends to chunk and not cook right.

This is a great meal. So nutritious, low fat, and surprisingly filling. There are chunks of "tamale" in there, which I love, since I'm a "soak the whole piece of bread in the soup and eat it" kind of person. It is thick, so I think "soup" is probably not an accurate descrption.

I like several of Dr. McDougall's items, but not this one. Don't waste your money. Try one of his other soups instead, like the split pea or minestrone.

This soup is super easy to heat and tastes yummy! I usually don't like add water and mix soups, but this actually tastes good. I add corn chips, sour cream, and cheese when I'm at home, but the soup tastes good when I'm at school and eat it plain. Plus, it's got a lot of fiber! Twenty-four percent of my daily value in the whole cup!

This soup is super, super delicious. I could live on this stuff, and kind of do while I'm working "busy season" 70 hour weeks. Yumm.

I agree with the reviewer that said "Ugly but good" I love the flavor but the color and consistency make it look ugly. If you aren't picky about what your food looks like then buy these they are sooo good!

This may be my favorite flavor of instant soup. It contains natural and mostly simple ingredients, is easy to make (just add water, microwave 2 minutes, let sit 8 minutes) and tastes delicious! I always expect products like this to be bland but the tamale flavor is excellent. I always like more spice rather than less, and while it could use more, I was pleased with the flavor. The corn flavor and texture is good, as well. It gets somewhat goopy as the soup sits and thickens, but I like that and think it makes this flavor a LOT more filling than many others that are mostly broth. It is also slightly lower in calories than many other flavors, including another favorite of mine, Dr. McDougall's Right Foods Vegan Pad Thai Noodle Soup. AND it's gluten-free and vegan. It's a winner.
