Product Description

Body builders, athletes and active people everywhere are drinking more protein shakes than ever... even when they don't taste all that great. Dieters looking to lose those extra pounds fast are replacing daily candy bars with protein bars... even when they taste more like sawdust than sweets. People of all shapes and sizes and activity levels from teens to retirees are beginning to finally understand the value of protein in their daily diet. So, what's all the buzz about? Protein is an essential part of *every* cell in your entire body. Helps build and repair your body's tissues Assists in making enzymes, hormones, and other body chemicals vital for optimal health Is the necessary building block of your bones, muscles, cartilage, skin and blood ... even your hair and nails are made mostly of protein! Protein is a "macronutrient." Other macronutrients include fat and carbohydrates. Your body needs macronutrients to stay healthy. Compared to relatively small amount of micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) that your body requires, you need macronutrients (and lots of them) every day to stay well. The main difference between protein, versus fats & carbs, is that your body cannot store protein. Regretfully, we know the same can't be said about fat! So, what does this mean to you? If you want to take advantage of protein's incredible health-enhancing benefits, you need a daily diet that is rich in them.

This has a good peanut butter flavor and if there was a way to give 4 1/2 stars that would be my true rating. It has a bit of a chalky after taste though not like most of these powders. I have also found that if you add one scoop of peanut butter and one scoop of banana whey powder it is very tasty!

After reading up on the benefits of dairy from grass-fed cattle, I started researching on-line for a good quality whey-based protein for my smoothies. I was tired of chocolate and vanilla, and knew peanut butter could be a good source of protein but wanted to cut back on the fat and calories that can be in peanut butter, so a requirement was a variety of flavors (peanut butter gets bonus points).

Also being a reader of Mercola.com, I knew about this stuff but really hesitated purchasing this product for a long time. I finally decided to give it a go. When received, I noticed the container was quite small, and required 2 scoops instead of a single scoop to get the nutrition as listed on the back. Additionally, it's not quite as high-protein as I would like. Finally, it has as many carbs as protein, while I was looking for a higher protein-to-carb ratio to increase the protein in my already carb-heavy smoothies.

I also expected to get a nice jolt of peanut butter flavor running through my smoothies, but my smoothies ended up tasting only mildly of peanut butter, despite the ratio of produce to powder I tried to use.

The powder does mix very well, and can be mixed in a cup shaker easily. It's also tolerable with water but tastes rather bland (much better with a milky product such as almond, rice, soy or cow's milk).

For the price I paid and the amount I received, I have a hard time justifying the cost for the amount of protein I get. This was gone in a very short time, and I had to supplement with other sources of protein to up the protein ratio in my daily diet.

This is a good flavor for Mercola Powder. My sons just love it when I add it to their smoothies. They like to add chocolate cocoa powder with this pb flavored Protein Powder. It works alot better than using actual pb with the vanilla protein powder Mercola has. It is less messy - mixes well and my boys love the taste. :) A big hit in our family!

We blend this with one banana, Almond Breeze chocolate almond milk and crushed ice in our NutriBullet. It tastes awesome!! It tastes much better than a chocolate/peanut butter/banana milkshake that you would get from an ice cream parlor, plus it is a whole lot healthier. It is a bit pricey, but with the high quality ingredients, it is worth it, if you are striving to live a truly healthful lifestyle.
