5.0 out of 5 stars Dr. Pompo's Nose
This book is full of fun ideas that have to do with, when something like a pumpkin nose, is found in a pumpkin patch. The funny words and mentioning of different foods, was so silly, that I laughed the whole way through. The nose could be just about anything I could dream up, from a bat to a tree. 3.0 out of 5 stars Clever use of pumpkins as characters
"Dr. Pompo's Nose" cleverly uses real pumpkins as the characters, but I felt that the rhyming text was forced and akward to read. However, the range of expressions on the pumpkins' faces are amazing and fun to look at. Although I liked this book, I would recommend "How Are You Peeling" by the same authors more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Who knew?, March 19, 2001

I was worried about this one, because pumpkin faces are stuck in permanent frown. I brought this book home to my almost two-year-old niece and she loved it. She paraded it wherever we went for the weekend, and started to learn the names of all the different pumpkins. We read it thirty times in two days. I felt like a hero.

5.0 out of 5 stars Completely different! bright colours and pumpkin hero!, December 11, 2006
This review is from: Dr. Pompo's Nose (Hardcover)
This is an odd, and completely different children's book that really works. It is a simple parable, about what is in front of you really being as it appears - but it is illustrated in almost alarmingly bright colours with a bunch of pumpkins as the characters in the peice. They all have different personaliites and have been cut to show different expressions, it is extremely clever visually.

The text is nice. It is simple, it rhymes neatly, and it has a lot to think about. I really like the way you can experiment with items to find a meaning to fit it (and it is a good game to play with kids by the way). It is fun and funny and my children really enjoy it.

I wouldn't have thought it was a 4 and up book though. Kids up to 5 probably get more out of it, it is a simple story, but not something older kids would enjoy a great deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Halloween Howler!, August 13, 2000

"Dr. Pompo's Nose is yet another delightful creation by the author of "Play With Your Food" and "How Are You Peeling?" It will have the children --and their parents-- rolling in the aisles this Halloween! Bravo!
