Format: Hardcover
As a child (back when this book was new) this thin volume got me started on a lifetime of fascination with science. The brief profiles inside got me reading full-length biographies in science, and other books as well.

Format: Hardcover
This fantastic book was published in 1961 and in my opinion is still a classic that should be read by anyone interested in science and the great individuals who changed history. I was fortunate to have picked up this hardcover (paper cover was missing) autographed edition by the author for a real bargain. The material it contains about the giants of science is nothing short of amazing. This also contains well drawn illustrations which the author also created. In fact, the illustrations alone are worth the price of this classic.

This incredible 348 page book lists twenty five of the giants of science. Even though all the individuals mentioned in this book deserved their place in history, the following is just a few of my favorites: Greek mathematician, Archimedes. The Greek astronomer, Hipparchus. The Italian artist and scientist, Leonardo da Vinci. The Astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, Johannes Kepler, Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton, Albert Michelson, Robert Hutchings Goddard, Enrico Fermi, Edwin Powell Hubble and of course, the great Albert Einstein.

As I mentioned previously, the author’s hand written illustrations make this a more interesting and informative book. You should keep in mind that this is not an in depth biography of each person, but rather a brief overview of their contribution to science and the world of knowledge. I do not know whether this book is even still in print, but it is worth reading if you can get a copy.

Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Never Trust a Politician: A critical review of politics and politicians).
