Product Description

Amazon.com

He's back! That lovable cat (the one with the hat) has charmed children and parents for more than 40 years in the bestselling, easy-to-read books The Cat in the Hat and The Cat in the Hat Comes Back. Now Dr. Seuss's most famous character is the star of his own board game. The other characters in the Cat in the Hat books make an appearance, too, on picture cards that are collected as players move around the game board. The game requires letter recognition, but not reading, and also features counting, matching, and introductory strategy skills. There's no doubt about it--that Cat in the Hat makes magic wherever he goes! The Cat in the Hat game comes with a game board, 40 picture cards, four playing pieces and stands, a spinner card, and an instruction booklet. A Green Eggs and Ham Game is also available. Cat in the Hat Game is for two to four players. --Marcie Bovetz

4.0 out of 5 stars Have fun while learning your letters, July 10, 1999

Kids really enjoy playing this game. It consists of a board, a set of cards, a spinner, and player pieces. The cards are spread out on the board according to color. You spin the spinner and have to decide if you can pick up the card based on its color or if the letters on it match any of the letters on the top card in your pile. Helps kids with matching letters and colors. Best of all, the game doesn't end until the last player finishes. The winner is the one who collected the most cards. Pre-readers will have fun playing too, but need help from Mom or Dad.

My daughters age 4 and 6 play this game often. Its helping her to learn her letters. Comes in a nice sturdy box. Only downfall is the small little cards that slide on the board and can be easily lost (there are no extras included with the game).

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and educational, August 24, 2002

This is great at many levels. For younger children , it teaches letter and color recognition. As they get older, it teaches word recognition. For the older children and adults who will be playing with the the young children, you can work through strategies with each turn. Obviously this is a children's game, but it can be fun for all ages. Spending time with the children is the best part.
