The sun's still not shining and it's too wet to play.
So don't think this movie will help save the day.
What a mess! What a shame that's it's come down to this,
A gigantic hairball! A huge movie miss!
I thought for a moment it was Powers in drag.
Though not in a dress. In a cat suitish bag!
Or maybe a remake of THE WIZARD OF OZ?
The Cowardly Lion in kitty cat paws?
No! No! It's just rubbish, the worst of the sort!
To take a great classic and its story abort.
And replace it with nonsense that just doesn't fly.
If Seuss were still here I am sure he would die.
His story, his concepts all blasted...oh well,
Into small smithereens. It won't work. It won't sell!
I guess that some think that they'll just tag the title
To a movie so bad that it's up in the nightle!
Oh, yes, they made money but in the end, it is true,
They just couldn't fool us, not me and not you!
Just read the book to the kiddies, indeed.
Just watch the cartoons that this movie exceed.
Just forget about this one and hope there won't be
More movies like this that we won't have to see.

I won't tell you how the movie is but I'll tell you I think its horrible that we're not able to watch the movie without first being forced to watch ads for other movies.
At least with a VCR tape you could fast forward or at the movies you can get some popcorn while you want.
This DVD won't let you just put in the movie and play it.
I'm not someone who would download or use illegal copies of movies but if the studios continue creating DVD's with no escape options I might change.

Visually interesting is pretty much all I can say for this DVD. I use "interesting" because I did find the production design to be creative, although the colors did tend to be a bit overpowering at times (It seemed as though Crayola vomited on my TV screen at points in the movie). Mike Myers was apparently stuck in Dr. Evil mode during his performance, as it felt at times like I was watching the character from "Austin Powers" dressed as a creepy looking cat. I also had a problem with some of the humor (innuendos abound, parents!)...this WAS supposed to be a "FAMILY" movie, Hollywood, and I found it a bit disturbing that one of the special features, the outtakes, actually had "bleeped" profanity, including the "F-Word", which was uttered by Sean Hayes and bleeped out...you still know what was said, and I was very offended that it was even included on this disc for kids to see. The "Things" (Thing 1 & Thing 2) are so creepy looking that I would have been scared if I was a kid! Universal even manages to throw a commercial in your face for the Universal Studios Theme Park halfway thru the movie! Thank goodness the movie was as short as it was...if you leave out the opening & ending credits, it's stretching to say it lasts about an hour and 10 minutes. Any more and I would have needed some headache medicine...the movie is so frantic and hyper, plus the colors and music, it'll drive you over the edge!
Save your $20 and go to the local video game arcade...it's quieter and less flashy than this movie !!!!

Nasty. Awful. Hated it. Although I love the original book, this movie is completely butchering it. The Cat is wild, crude, and lewd. How could they turn a good classic in to this piece of stinking rotten egg. When we saw this, we were expecting good stuff, not this. Do knot buy!!!

Before I saw this movie, I was excited about it too. We bought the DVD as my 5-year-old daughter's birthday present. It turned out to be a biggest disappointment. The acting was not funny but violent. Most of the humor are not suitable for children. We also found the humiliation towards the asian people (or government) unnecessary. What I really want to know is when they made this movie, do they have children in mind? If you love Dr. Seuss, read the book. Don't waste money on the movie. Don't even rent it. It will do more harm to your kids than good.

I hated this film because it was entirely out of character with the real Dr. Seuss. It should be purely fun and innocent. Instead it has a pornographic magazine joke which leads to the cats hat elongating as though it were an erection. I don't recall erection jokes in the original books do you? There is a scene in which the cat and the kids have just retrieved their missing dog and are being chased by an angry neighbor.. they escape through a magical doorway on the street which leads to a firemans pole which takes them "underground" to a dance club/rave scene. Here the cat is distracted by a beautiful slightly slutty girl, who just so happens to be played by Paris Hilton. Now it doesn't take a genius to see what is being suggested here. Everyone knows that ravers and ecstasy users often make connections between their drug use and Dr. Seuss and the "underground". They even wear Dr. Seuss hats. And the cat even loses his own hat among the many other hats at the rave which I don't think was just a coincidence. Considering that Dr. Seuss books are for really young impressionable kids and they were intended to influence them with the idea of keeping their imagination and holding on to the feeling that they are worthwhile and good, what exactly is Mike Myers saying here? That sex, drugs and dancing at an expensive raver club is the place where real happiness exists? That by hanging out in a drug/raver scene you'll be one of the beautiful barby doll people like Paris Hilton? That you'll be surrounded by all the good imaginative beautiful people and free of all the crazy angry psycho people in the real world?
I'm no prude when it comes to wordly things, but Dr. Seuss was all about impressing kids.. and so this film has to be examined as to how it's going to impress kids. It's not good.
