Product Description

Hunger Wrecks Diets:If you've ever tried to lose weight, you know why most diets fail: hunger! That's why, for 35 years, renowned physician, author, and weight-loss expert Sanford Siegal, D.O., M.D., has been baking his famous cookies in his Miami bakery. Dr. Siegal's cookies contain his secret protein formula which he mixes with his own hands. There's no magic involved in shedding excess fat. The only way is to take in fewer calories than you need to maintain your weight. But that's a lot easier said than done when hunger strikes. Use Dr. Siegal's Cookie Diet cookies as a satisfying alternative to foods that are higher in calories, fat, and carbohydrates as you follow a reduced-calorie diet supervised by your doctor (ask your doctor to advise you how many calories to consume each day).

When I decided to try this diet, it was sort of a "what the heck, might as well give it a try" decision. I wasn't sure if the diet was effective or would work for me, but some aspects really appealed to me.

I'll give you the conclusion to my review up-front so you can decide if you want to read the rest of my review. I've lost 10# in 28 days. I still have about 40# to go and I will continue on the cookie diet, but felt I was at the point where I could declare the diet successful for me and post a review to help others considering it. I had read everything I could find on the diet before deciding to try it and a review like this would have been very helpful in making my decision to try it, so I hope that it will help others.

For reference, I started this diet at 200# with most of the excess weight around my middle and I'm 5'5", female and 41 years old. I have not dieted at all for 3 years since going off the Atkins diet in 2006 after doing that successfully for 3 years. Since then I gained about 50# and was in need of addressing my weight gain. I've dieted many times on many different diets over the years as I've struggled with weight my entire life.

Most important to me about this diet was not being hungry, accomplished by eating the cookies. That has really been a huge issue for me in past diets, as Dr. Siegal correctly identified in his book. Also, the simple layout of the diet with the 6 cookies and a meal really helped as I knew that I wasn't supposed to eat anything but his cookies until dinner. And I wouldn't need to buy weird, pricey frankenfoods (other than the cookies) like I did on Atkins (low-carb breads, chocolates, etc) since I'd be eating regular foods for dinners.

As for the cookies, don't think of them as actual cookies.

I ordered this from Dr. Siegals' website about a month ago. The first time I tried the cookies, I ordered the chocolate, I didn't like them at all. They were like eating a tasteless sponge. But since I ordered two boxes at $59 per box. I was willing to try it out. I actually got to really enjoy the cookies. I also liked that it helped me to drink more water. I am one of those people who do not like to drink water, but with these cookies I actually started to crave water. The cookies really do fill you up. My teenage son, who is not overweight, tried a cookie and he too was amazed how they fill you up. This diet is not for everyone. It works well if you have 10 to 15 pounds to lose. For me it was easy to follow. I didn't feel hungry or deprived. The cookies come in a large box with seven pouches of cookies, one pouch per day. I would just grab a pouch and take it with me to work with my water bottle and I was set until dinner.

Hunger is absolutely what's been my achillies heel with dieting, and these cookies actually get rid of it. The first week on them was really hard--but so is the first week of every new diet I've ever started. After the first week, it got MUCH easier. The chocolate cookies are pretty good (but definitely get the idea of "cookie" out of your head and think of it like an allright tasting thing that will give you a chance to eat something and WILL get rid of your hunger with a glass of water and about 15 minutes. (And eat each cookie s-l-o-w-l-y, or you'll just be bummed out that eating them has the potential to be a quick experience.) I tried both the oatmeal & the chocolate cookies--I liked the chocolate better, but the oatmeal did grow on me and I like mixing the two so I've got some variety. If you find you still need to be eating something throughout the day (like I do) I just had zero point veggies (it's incredible how yummy a bowl of broccoli or a tomato can seem after a meal or two of "cookies"--if for no other reason than it takes a while to eat and adds some variety.) I'm really psyched about these cookies and I just ordered my second month's worth--knowing I've got something that really, truly takes that feeling of hunger away is SO freeing. I feel like there's hope for me to lose all the weight I want now, without my having to battle my brain that is so hard to fight once my tummy starts growling.

Lets just say the obvious. Everyone loves cookies. Well these are NOT your mamas cookies. They are small not super tasty at all. With that said though...they are less than 100 calories each. So if you stick to the plan on the box you'll lose weight. This diet wasn't for me. But if you need to lose weight quickly and you're motivated, these cookies are worth the price.

didn't do anything for me. I was better off eating a healthy salad instead of skipping a meal and eating a cardboard cookie

I was quite surprised to see the price on here being nearly double what I found on the net elsewhere!
