This review is from: Dr. Smith's Diaper Ointment, 2-Ounce Jar (Pack of 3) (Health and Beauty)
i just wanted to say that we use desitin cream for our daughter and it works great but after coming across dr. smith's here on amazon, just from reading reviews people gave about it? i had to purchase one.

so there was this one unfortunate night, my daughter wouldnt stop crying. when we looked at her bottom, we saw it was filled with rashes and it was almost at the point of bleeding! This product is such a God sent because after we applied it on her, it stopped her crying, and the next day, the almost bleeding rashes practically disappeared. my MOTHER, who never heard of this product before? was converted that very morning and wouldn't stop talking about Dr. smith's ointment and that everyone should buy it. lol. i don't blame her. i think everybody with a child should have a couple of these in their house. thank you dr. smiths! and amazon :)

this is oderless by the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Diaper Ointment I've ever used, June 14, 2008
By
I have been using Dr. Smith's for several years now. When my first son was 10 months old, he was hospitalized with Rotavirus (a nasty diarrhea virus). At one point in the middle of the night, he was screaming uncontrollably from a red bottom and nothing would soothe him. He wouldn't nurse or let me rock him, nothing worked. I thought they would have to sedate him!! The nurse finally brought in a tub of Dr. Smith's and it immediately eased his discomfort. He stopped crying, nursed and went to sleep. I have been a fan ever since.

I'm actually a neonatal nurse (babies) and have seen lots of red buts and used many products in my day. Nothing compares to Dr. Smith's Diaper Ointment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and Effective, October 18, 2009

I have begun using this on my 3rd baby now because I've had issues with cloth diapers. I have to use a liner in order to not ruin my diapers, but the cream itself does a great job of getting rid of any redness or rash. I learned the hard way to be very proactive about preventing a rash. We've had some bad ones last a long time. This cream is not super thick, which I like a lot. I've used a lot of different kinds and even made my own. Burt's Bees is great smelling and really thick, but doesn't solve the problem all the time. California Baby is really good- the first aid calendula cream. I would buy it more regularly, but the cost is a tad too much with shipping. I've used a ton others too. Now that I have found this, I really am enjoying it's effectiveness and that it isn't such a mess to put on.

pros: works great against preventing rash and eliminating rash quickly; the best your going to find; not that greasy; works great with just a small amount
cons: its the most expensive; and walmart had it cheaper (reason for 4 stars)

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best, June 27, 2009

We tried several other diaper ointments (e.g., Butt Paste, Triple Paste) and Dr. Smith's, which our Dr. recommended, was the only one that cured and prevents our daughter's diaper rash. Bonus: it has no odor. Some of the others we tried stunk to high heaven---so much so that they negated that sweet baby smell.

I can't say enough about this product. I used this cream for my daughter who has extremely sensitive skin, and it cleared up every rash she's ever had. She is older now and still occasionally gets irritation, and it clears it right up. It works great at clearing up and preventing rashes on my baby boy, and my husband even uses it to heal chafing that he sometimes experiences.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the price., April 28, 2008

Dr. Smith's ointment is the most effective balm that we have used in treating and preventing diaper rash. My daughter is prone to having severe diaper rash -- even at 2yo. Dr. Smith's not only clears up the rash within a day, it prevents a new one from starting if used regularly. We went six months with no rashes on her bottom when I used this daily. My son has only had one rash in a year with the help of this ointment. It is well worth the extra dollars to prevent the tears and discomfort. Five stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't live without it, December 4, 2006
My sister introduced me to Dr. Smiths when my first child had diaper rash. I am now on my fourth child and have yet to find anything better. I have looked for something cheaper that works but nothing on the market compares. None of the stores in my area carry Dr. Smiths so I now buy it on line. If your child has difficulty with diaper rash, don't waste time on anything else. Dr. Smiths is the best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rash Relief, This stuff is GOLD!, July 26, 2006
By
My daughter had such bad diaper rash that she had sores on her bottom. We tried EVERYTHING!!!! It got so bad we had to go once a week to the doctor for medication and "prescribed" diaper creams...nothing worked. Got the Dr. Smiths idea from another mom....in 4 days her diaper rash cleared up and we were able to keep it at bay with Dr. Smiths. This is the best kept mommy secret ever. Due to the cost we only used Dr. Smiths when it looked like a diaper rash may start or in the summer for heat rash. I even found the product works great on my older children and myself for irritation, heat rash and other irritations. When I say this is Gold in a Jar....I'm not kidding!!! I know give this as a baby gift to all new mommies...never fails I get a call of thanks within the first 6 months and a "this stuff is great...I'm so glad you turned me on to Dr. Smiths!" No need for Dr. Smiths "rash" care...this is it!!!!! Good luck and Happy bottoms!

5.0 out of 5 stars I was one of Dr. Smith's Patients...it worked for me and now for my kids!, November 3, 2011
This review is from: Dr. Smith's Diaper Ointment, 2-Ounce Jar (Pack of 3) (Health and Beauty)
When I was a child, I had very sensitive skin and would regulary get rashes. from birth, I was a patient of the now-famous Dr. Smith in San Antonio and he had my parents get the cream for me from the pharamacy before it was produced and marketed. I now have 2 children of my own and have been using Dr. Smith's since their arrivals. On occation when we ran out and had to substitute something in a fix, I have never found anything to compare to the effectiveness of this product. This is THE best baby shower gift you can give! Share the love...and the soothed bottoms!
