5.0 out of 5 stars Like Finding GOLD!!!!
My daughter had such bad diaper rash that she had sores on her bottom. We tried EVERYTHING!!!! It got so bad we had to go once a week to the doctor for medication and "prescribed" diaper creams...nothing worked. Got the Dr. Smiths idea from another mom....in 4 days her diaper rash cleared up and we were able to keep it at bay with Dr. Smiths. This is the best kept...

1.0 out of 5 stars very disappointed!
we bought it hoping it will cure my girls diaper rash. It didn't work at all. I guess everyone's skin type is different. The only thing worked for my girls are Dr. Lee's Diaper Cream. It is not as easy to apply as Dr. Smith's cream, but it works like a charm! If your baby's skin is as sensitive as my girls', you may want to look elsewhere.

Got the Dr. Smiths idea from another mom....in 4 days her diaper rash cleared up and we were able to keep it at bay with Dr. Smiths. This is the best kept mommy secret ever. Due to the cost we only used Dr. Smiths when it looked like a diaper rash may start or in the summer for heat rash. I even found the product works great on my older children and myself for irritation, heat rash and other irritations. When I say this is Gold in a Jar....I'm not kidding!!! I know give this as a baby gift to all new mommies...never fails I get a call of thanks within the first 6 months and a "this stuff is great...I'm so glad you turned me on to Dr. Smiths!" No need for Dr. Smiths "rash" care...this is it!!!!! Good luck and Happy bottoms!

My doctor gave us a sample of this when my daughter was born and it's awesome! My daughter is on solids and has never had a diaper rash! We use this after every bath and at the slightest hint of pinkness. Her little bottom is normal by the next diaper change.

I am a Registered Nurse, and a mother of 4. Dr. Smith's makes both roles easier. This paste works miracles on bottoms of all sizes. I have been using 'docto mitts' (courtesy of my daughter)for 9 years. My first-born had a staph infection on her buttocks as an infant and diaper changes were excruciating - until a pharmacist in San Antonio recommended using Dr. Smith's along with the antibiotic cream at every diaper change. I've used this miracle cream ever since. It works great when kids get constipated and get little tears from hard stools, it works when they've forgotten to wipe effectively and they get a little sore. It worked for me personally after the birth of my daughter and I was suffering from the stitches. It works on my patients who experience rashes. I've used it for burns, sunburns, scrapes, cracked nipples, and all sorts of rashes. The ointment does not have any pain-killers in it, but it's very calming to the skin and other delicate tissues, it even works great for newly circumcised little boys. I recommend Dr. Smith's for everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than prescription creams, April 19, 2009
This review is from: Dr. Smith's Diaper Ointment, 3-Ounce Tubes (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
After our 1 year old son developed a severe diaper rash we tried numerous products to aid in the healing process along with a sprinkling of corn starch to aid in dryness. Nothing worked. Prescription creams relieved the pain and redness a bit but never cured the rash. We battle this problem for 2 weeks until I heard about Dr. Smith's Diaper Ointment. After reading reviews of this product on "Amazon.com" We decided to give it a try. Best diaper ointment on the market. BAR NONE. That stubborn, painful, cherry red rash was GONE in "TWO" days. AWESOME. Our son returned to his cheerful, joyful self again. This ointment is nothing short of a miracle.

Truly worth it's weight in gold when it comes to helping frustrated parents help their child. And it's not even a prescription controlled medication. Awesome.

We ALL thank you Dr. Smith for this great product.

5.0 out of 5 stars We'll only use Dr. Smith's from now on!, December 21, 2008

This review is from: Dr. Smith's Diaper Ointment, 3-Ounce Tubes (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
My first baby just turned 5 months old, and as a new mother, I have been receiving lots of advice. Shortly after my son was born, a co-worker of my mom's told her that she swore by Dr. Smith's diaper ointment. I put this info in the back of my mind because as of yet, my son had not suffered from diaper rash.

And then he did. I was fighting it for over a week with my arsenal of butt creams (Nature's Baby, Burt's Bee's, Boudreaux's) & nothing really knocked his rash out. It wasn't getting any worse, but his rash certainly wasn't getting any better, either.

I found the Dr. Smith's at my grocery store & put it to use right away. Less than 24 hours later, the rash on my son's sweet little buns has all but disappeared! I couldn't be more pleased! I've passed on a hearty thank you to the woman who recommended it and am about to order a few more tubes from Amazon so that I'll be sure to have one in each of our diaper bags.

The Dr. Smiths goes on smooth, washes off easily, and has a mild scent. I highly recommend this product!

5.0 out of 5 stars SAVED MY BABY'S BUMM and I thought it was my Daycare!, May 28, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
A friend gave me a 2 oz jar at my baby shower and proclaimed it the best there was. I didn't think anything of it and later purchased a large, cheap, family sized jar of Desitin for home and figured I would just take the 'little container' to day care.

They used that one little container throughout her infant care class--During this period, my little one NEVER, EVER HAD A DIAPER RASH. They ran out just as she entered early toddler class. Since I had a tub of Desitin at home, I just took some of that and threw it in the little jar since it was conveniently sized....

Then, the rashes began...and never stopped. I thought it was the frequency of diaper changes and started questioning my day care and even started changing my daughter several times in the middle of the night....But, to no avail--blisters all over her little bum. Then, one of the teachers commented, "Dr. Smith's is one of the best--I don't know why it's not doing the trick." AAAAAHAAAA MOMENT: I realized then that the reason my Princess had never had a rash during infant care was because of DR. SMITH'S.

That same night, I hunted that little, rather expensive container down and bought two--one for day care, one for me. Within a day my daughter's perpetual, horrid, blistering, bleeding rash cleared up. WITHIN A DAY! It was like MAGIC. Two days later I got on Amazon and bought 6 of them. I'm planning on giving one to every mother-to-be from now on.

It is more expensive per oz than other bumm product out in the market to date. But I make up for in what I save in heart-ache, stress when my baby won't let me change her because it obviously hurts...and what I save in the extra diapers I was changing within SECONDS of noticing they were wet. It is WORTH EVERY PENNY.

Update: March 2008. I've probably used two tubes in two years for my first born baby. Since then, I have had a second child and am happy to report that I continue to use Dr. Smith's at bed time. She has yet to suffer through a diaper rash. I know it's pricey, but you really won't need that much since it's great at prevention.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly Powerful Healing!, December 30, 2006

elviswoman (Dallas, TX United States) - See all my reviews
My preemie developed diaper rash that gave way to open sores in her bottom while in the NICU. We tried Desitin-it smells funky AND made her cry, prescription Calazyme which made her scream, Boudreaux Butt Paste which was okay but smells strange...

On our first visit to the Pediatrician after we got the baby out of the NICU, we were given several mini jars of Dr. Smith's Diaper Ointment. First, no scent, hooray! Second, baby did not scream, cry, or even whimper when we put it on her open sores. Third, the open sores were closed up and healed over within 72 hours after applying this at every diaper change/feeding. It's been almost two weeks and her bottom is perfect, not the slightest hint of irritation.

I have bought a TON of this ointment, I swear by it, it WORKS! I highly recommend it!

EDIT: I have used both the jars and the tubes of this ointment, and would recommend the jar. The ointment is thick and difficult to get out of the tube but easy to get out of the jar. I tried the tube because of the flip top and decided that getting the ointment out easily is more important-especially when I have ointment and have started to apply it and baby starts going potty which means I have to start all over again-too hard to squeeze out more ointment with one hand while holding baby still with other hand.

Nonetheless, GREAT product and 4 weeks after first use we are still diaper rash and irritation free on our baby's buns! We will continue using this stuff till we get baby potty trained, it's that good!

5.0 out of 5 stars Adult Use as Remedy/Preventive, May 20, 2010

This review is from: Dr. Smith's Diaper Ointment, 3-Ounce Tubes (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
My internal medicine physician recommended this product to me to use as a skin protectant. Long past maternity, a belly flap remains on my abdomen that sometimes gets/stays damp (gym, yard work, Houston heat/humidity) and gets rashy. I have an allergic reaction to topical hydrocortisone, so there's not much available for any skin-related problems. Smith's ointment did a good job of getting rid of rash and I continue to use it on clean skin on an almost-daily basis. It has very little odor (which does dissipate after a bit) and is non-greasy. I had no luck finding this product at CVS or Walgreens retail, so ordered through Amazon.com--received shipment pretty quickly. I did find a small jar of it at Kroger, later. My husband uses it to prevent "jock itch," as well. We're pleased with the product and will likely continue using/buying it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Diaper Rash Cream out.., June 10, 2006
We used to live in San Antonio texas and I asked a pharmacist at Target what we could use and she gave me this and said she recomends it to everyone who asks. We moved about a year ago and I couldnt find it anywhere so I decided to try the internet, thank god I found it!! This is the best stuff out of all of the diaper ointments I have tried.. Aveeno, Desitin, Balmex and a few others. My daughter also has very sensitive skin so we can use this if she breaks out with something minor. One light layer works just great and a few hours later its gone. With diaper rash, depending on how bad it is.. luckily she hasnt gotten it that bad but when we have used it by the next diaper change the redness is already clearing up. GO BUY SOME.. You wont be sorry!!!!

Dr. Smith's was seriously better than any other I tried and I tried MANY. In fact being an herbalist myself, I was hoping that some of the more herbal, natural and organic ones would work better but, Dr Smith's won, hands down every time. My babies are no longer in diapers but, every time a friend gets pregnant I want to add this to their baby shower gift. They used to sell it at HEB and at Central Market but, I can't find it anywhere anymore. What gives? Why isn't it as readily available as it used to be?
