4.0 out of 5 stars If you REALLY like the theme song, this is for you., January 7, 2002
This review is from: Dr Who: Variations on a Theme (Audio CD)
Featuring four different arrangements of the famous Ron Grainer signature tune, this pressing of "Variations On A Theme" is actually a welcome reissue of a limited-edition title which was originally released as a square CD-3 (!). The "Mood Version," as arranged by Mark Ayres, has already been heard in a slightly abridged form, opening and closing the soundtrack CD of "The Greatest Show In The Galaxy," and many video fans will recognize Keff McCulloch's light "Latin Version" as the tune which opened and closed the various "[insert Doctor/monster name here] Years" videos. The real prize is Dominic Glynn's haunting "Mood Version," which is worthy of opening a new season of the series itself. If only that would happen now...but until it does, this CD is worth getting a hold of.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dr. Who: Variations On A Theme... 5 out of 5 Stars., July 20, 2011

This review is from: Dr Who: Variations on a Theme (Audio CD)
-- Music based on the original theme of Doctor Who...
This disc contains Four Variations on the main theme... Mood Version, Terror Version, Latin Version ( Kind of Smooth-Jazz based )and the fourth track is the infamous 'Panopticon Eight' Version of said main theme. If you like soundtrack music or just the Doctor Who theme, then this is obviously worth checking out. This disc is from 1992 or 1993, and is considered by some to be a collector's item. So it might be a bit pricey, but Well worth it, if you are a DW fan or just like Smooth Jazz, Electronica, or Instrumental music in general. It is less than 30 minutes total play time- So know that it is a collector's item mainly, Before you consider ordering it. It might be a good investment for those who collect rare discs, as it keeps getting higher in price, even though it is difficult to find an UNused copy.
