We continue our journey with Slith and Kang and the newly born female Draconians. The store is somewhat predictable. The plot does not really start to take off until the end of the book. The end itself is rather pathetic, it leaves a tone of unanswered questions, as if the authors wanted to write a 3rd book but just never got around to it. I paid 1.65 for this book, used...

This review is from: Draconian Measures (Dragonlance Kang's Regiment, Vol. 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Draconian Measures (by Don Perrin with Margaret Weis) picks up where Doom Brigade left off. Kang's regiment have successfully hatched the female draconians and are now trying to protect them until they are mature enough to breed. The survival of the draconian race depends on it.

This story is full of mystery as the goblins and hobgoblins, once allied with the draconians begin to attack in an orchestrated fashion, much more disciplined than goblins are apt to be.

The discovery of another band of draconians gives Kang and his troops hope that there are many more of their kind in the world.

Kang encounters a setback when he is forbidden to contact a group of Knights of Takhisis for help against the eminent goblin horde. Something strange is going on in the new camp of Draconians. Can Kang and his men find out what it is before it's too late?

One of the most interesting aspects of this book is the introduction of the female draconian. Don and Margaret cover their special powers (slightly different from their male counterparts) and abilities. You can feel the draconians becoming a true race rather than a created species. They seem less evil because of it. They, like all other species, are just out to survive.

An added bonus to Dungeons & Dragons players is the new 3rd edition statistics for draconians in the back of the book.

If you enjoyed Doom Brigade or any of the other 5th Age Dragonlance books be sure to pick this one up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Draconian Measures, January 6, 2002

This review is from: Draconian Measures (Dragonlance Kang's Regiment, Vol. 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Draconian Measures definately lives up to its prequel, "The Doom Brigade". As with all Margaret Weis books, the writing is excellent, filled with great character and plot developement, intrigue, drama, and awesome fight scenes. Draconian Measures (as well as Doom Brigade) provides an actual look on the character and personalities of Draconians, instead of portraying them as brainless, feelingless, lizards like most other DL books. If you haven't already, buy both books; it's worth the money. I hope that Weis and Perrin write a third volume about the Draconians new civilization, to give some finality to the questionable fate of the Draconian race.

5.0 out of 5 stars This was a GOOD book!, November 15, 2000

This review is from: Draconian Measures (Dragonlance Kang's Regiment, Vol. 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
This was an excellent sequel to the book Doom Brigade, also by Margaret Weis and Don Perrin. It explains the lives of the First Dragonarmy Engineers and the female draconians they rescued during the Chaos War from Thorbardin. It also gives more insight into the lives of draocnians, with the introductory of kapaks and auraks to the regiment's story. It also tells the story of the rise of the Free Draconian city of Teyr, and how Kang becomes governor. Sadly we lose an old friend, but this was a good book all the same, worthy sequel of Doom Brigade, which was my second Dragonlance book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Will the draconians be able to live in peace?, July 6, 2001
By
This review is from: Draconian Measures (Dragonlance Kang's Regiment, Vol. 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
"Draconian Measures" picks up after where "Doom Brigade" leaves off; the story follows the adventures of the First Dragonarmy Engineers lead by Kang. The draconians live in a world where they are pretty much hated by everyone, and the only thing these particular draconians want is a place of their own so they can live in peace. Unfortunately, someone is out to completely destroy all draconians, and it is up to Kang and his men to prevent that. "Draconian Measures" also introduces us to the female draconians whom Kang feels the need to protect at all costs. The females want to experience the world, but they have not been able to do that under the watchful eye of the commander. This book is full of action and sure to please any fan of the Dragonlance world. One thing that any D&D fans should note is that the statistics for the draconians are listed in the back of the book.

This is one of the best in the dragonlance series. It will keep you reeding for hours at end. There is nevor a boring moment in the book and it has a shocking ending.

Thanks for this book Margaret Weis, Don Perrin

5.0 out of 5 stars Kang's force, November 6, 2000
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Draconian Measures (Dragonlance Kang's Regiment, Vol. 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the sequel to the best book ever written. Of course its a good book! How could it not be? It tells the tale of how Kang brings his force to the city, Neraka, and of a whole lot of intrigue along the way, such as who is out to get the draconians, now that Takhisis is no longer with Krynn? It tells of how the draconians are more good than you would think. If you have a chance, buy this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books EVER, January 16, 2001

"yarka" (Bowling Green, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Draconian Measures (Dragonlance Kang's Regiment, Vol. 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
The Doom Brigade was the best book I have ever read, Kangs Regiment being the sequel to The Doom Brigade I had very high expectations for. These exepectations were justified when i had finished this book. Kangs regiment was a book i could not put down, the only bad thing i can say about the book is that the book can be read in a short time if you get into it that is. Kangs regiment is the long awaited sequel (long awaited to me) to the Doom Brigade, it starts where Brigade left off. This book is about a race in Krynn called the draconians, they are a race of dragon people that i always just thought of as just evil creatures. This book changed that, The more i read the more i liked the draconians. They are just like any other race just wanting to survive. The draconians have just recived a gift from there departed god....Females, the draconians not being able to reproduce were doomed now that they have females they must protect them and that is what the book is about. Protecting them from 40000 hobgoblins is just one of the many trials they face. If you are a avid Dragon lance reader than i would higly recomend this book, or if you are looking for a cool book to read pick up Kangs regiment (also try the doom brigade):)

This review is from: Draconian Measures (Dragonlance Kang's Regiment, Vol. 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
The book was in great condition when I got it and it's a great read. I've always been a Dragonlance fan and this book gives a unique view on one of the most interesting species in the Dragonlance universe. I recommend reading Doom Brigade first because it sets up most of the story in this book but it's written well enough for that to not be necessary.

Follow-up to the Dragonlance novel The Doom Brigade. It chronicles Kang and his regiment after finding the females Draconians at the end of Doom Brigade. A must for Draconian fans.
