5.0 out of 5 stars How I love this album, oh let me count the ways
While the movie as a whole as a dissapointment this soundtrack soars above because it does what a soundtrack for a movie starring Dracula should do (no, not suck) it brutally pulverizes your senses and leaves you drained! Hows that for a play on words for ya...Anyways, with unreleased and killer tracks by Powerman 5000 and Disturbed as well as some new cuts by old hats...

3.0 out of 5 stars Some good, some bad....
I'm not much of a fan of movie soundtracks. It's often extremely difficult to find a compilation of songs which is cohesive and enjoyable in one listen. Dracula 2000 falls in that category of being overall unsatisfying and tepid. The producers put mainly a bunch of new-metal radio hits on there (Linkin Park, Saliva, Disturbed) with a few respectable songs (Slayer,...

While the movie as a whole as a dissapointment this soundtrack soars above because it does what a soundtrack for a movie starring Dracula should do (no, not suck) it brutally pulverizes your senses and leaves you drained! Hows that for a play on words for ya...Anyways, with unreleased and killer tracks by Powerman 5000 and Disturbed as well as some new cuts by old hats like Pantara and the brilliantly awsomely brutal 'Bloodline' by Slayer, this album gets off to one hell of a right foot. 'A Welcome Burden' is a welcome release and SoaD's remake of Berlin's 'Metro' is crazy and brilliant all at the same time, off the wall and in your face. One of the standout tracks here. Monster Magnet delivers a great one-two-punch and Pantara tramples you to the ground with 'Avoid the Light'. I would have liked to see a different Linkin Park song incorporated for 'One Step Closer' was so over-played at the time, but the inclution of Taproots 'Day by Day' was nice since that song was so under-played. A new band on the scene back in 2000 was Endo, and as they have evolved into one awsome band it's cool to see their start here. 'Malice' shows quite a bit of talent if I might add. Godhead surprised me by turning out one awsome track featuring the vocal talents of the one and only Manson...just knew he had to show up somewhere on a soundtrack promoting vampires. 'Swan Dive' is a great escape from the metal front although Static-X upset me with their weak offering. I know they can do much better than that! Anyways, thats just a short run down of this awsome album sure to make your skin crawl and your eardrums beg for mercy...and thats a good thing!

(REAL NAME)
I'm not much of a fan of movie soundtracks. It's often extremely difficult to find a compilation of songs which is cohesive and enjoyable in one listen. Dracula 2000 falls in that category of being overall unsatisfying and tepid. The producers put mainly a bunch of new-metal radio hits on there (Linkin Park, Saliva, Disturbed) with a few respectable songs (Slayer, Pantera, Godhead, Monster Magnet). Most of these songs have absolutely NOTHING to do with vampires or horror or anything resembling the movie. Soundtracks like Moulin Rouge create a glammy, sleazy feeling, O' Brother, Where Art Thou? creates a swampy deep-south feeling while The Matrix is purely futuristic and techno. Not saying I like glam or bluegrass but these are perfect counterparts to their movie which they represent. Dracula 2000 has nothing to do with vampires except for two songs. The overall sound (except for a few songs) is like listening to your local alternative rock station, and it doesn't even rock. I'm sure this ranks high among the 13-year old MTV fans who love Linkin Park, but for people who like dark or vampiric music, like myself, this is something to strongly consider buying. Buy it for Slayer and Pantera, not for Linkin Park and Disturbed. The soundtrack matches the movie, and that's not a good thing either.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just download "Metro", August 6, 2001
By
Infinity2 (Los Gatos, CA United States) - See all my reviews
Most of the stuff on here is rap metal. If you like that genre of music you'll love this soundtrack. If you like good metal, download the tracks by System of a Down, Pantera, and Slayer. You'll be happy you weren't suckered into buying the soundtrack like I was.

5.0 out of 5 stars Metro rules!!!!, June 6, 2001

The song "Metro" by System of a Down was enough of a reason to give this CD five stars, especially since I can't find that song anywhere else!! I usually don't listen to metal music, but once in a while its refreshing to crank up my stereo a notch and blast the heavy guitars. Go System of a Down!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars great bands ,great music ,cool movie, March 21, 2001
This sound track is full of some hard music. From the very begining with an awesome cut from PM5K. Including Disturbed ,System of a Down ,and Static-X ,the first 9 songs are enough to carry this cd. especially with the best song from Pantera that I've heard since far beyond driven. The last half of the cd is full of heavy grooves coming from taproot and saliva. The only song on here that I didn't imeadiatly fall in love with was from Half Cocked. It just didn't catch me. The cd is over all amazing. If you haven't heard of some of these bands I recommend you buy it and get a taste of some real music.

5.0 out of 5 stars MINDBLOWING!!!!, April 8, 2001
By
Nigel Sobers (Bridgetown, St. Michael, Barbados) - See all my reviews
As a relative newcomer to rock/metal, I find this album absolutely mindblowin', the entire album rips with headbangers, but a few tracks really stand out. Monster Magnet (Heads Explode), Godhead (Break You Down) & Powerman 5k (Ultra Mega) After being torn by this album, (I saw the film, and just knew I had to posess this album, damn near dislocated my neck when Monster Magnet came on!!!) I'm sold on this album, PERFECT FOR RIPPIN' OUTTA ANY PARTY JOINT!!!! BUY IT!!! The vibes just keep coming, and especially nice is the fact that the music seems to be tailored just to suit the movie. I'm a convert, and that ain't easy for a 26yr old hardcore rap fan, theres definitely something about rock/metal. The only thing that could have made it any better was if they had included Rob Zombie's (Dragula) Otherwise, this is a stellar work of art. ROCK ON!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Taproot, January 30, 2001
The only reason i bought this album was because of Taproot. I'm a huge fan of these guys. After hearing the whole CD i can honestly say that this is one of my favorite CD of the year. Best songs on the album are altra mega, metro, one step closer, swan dive, DAY BY DAY BY TAPROOT, and your disease. Check out Taproot's album as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Soundtrack, December 25, 2000
I got this soundtrack after watching the movie. The music in Dracula 2000 was about the only thing that impressed me. After looking at all who were on the CD, i couldn't resist. The funny thing was, i didn't even own CDs from the bands (with the exceptions of Pantera and Disturbed) , i just knew they were supposed to be good, and the music in the movie was awesome. So, i got it, listened to it, and now I want the CDs from every band on the soundtrack. "Bloodline"-Slayer, "Break you Down"-Godhead, "One Step Closer"-Linkin Park, "Avoid the Light"-Pantera, and "Day By Day"- Taproot are NOT throwaway songs you usually find on a soundtrack. It seems like the bands all wrote these songs to go along with the feel of the movie, and they succeeded perfectly. I usually buy soundtracks if they have heavy stuff on them, and so far this is my favorite pick. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the CD is not a masterpiece, but it's well worth the money. Listen and enjoy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Meets Bad..., March 16, 2002
Well, 'Dracula 2000' is not what I would call a best of metal type soundtrack, but this one is all right. The first half of the album is actually worth listening to, but I can't say the same for the rest of the album. For all those who don't listen to some decent music, here is a rundown of the tracks:

1. Powerman 5000-"Ultra Mega" 3/5
A typical Powerman 5000 song, no real surprises here.

2. Disturbed-"A Welcome Burden" 5/5
Surprisingly good. I guess I shouldn't have written Disturbed off as an MTV junkie.

3. Slayer-"Bloodline" 5/5
Particularly slow, and somewhat mellow for a Slayer song, but great none the less. Third best on the album.

4. System of a Down-"The Metro" 5/5
Amazing, I have got to say that I am amazed by how great the cover of the classic track is. The second best on the album.

5. Monster Magnet-"Heads Explode" 4/5
Very good. Not such a masterpiece as it is a song that is just there for a quick jolt of fun.

6. Godhead (featuring Marilyn Manson)-"Break You Down" 3/5
The first lyrics of this song really catch you attention ("I've got a gun in my hand, and I feel like a man, I'm the pope of my generation...") but sadly trail off as the song progresses.

7. Linkin Park-"One Step Closer" 2/5
O.K. for a band that stinks as bad as Linkin Park.

8. Pantera-"Avoid The Light" 5/5
The best track on the album. Actually, one of Pantera's strongest songs. I love it, great riffing, and great lyrics.

9. Static-X-"Ostego Undead" 3/5
Not one of Static-X's best song, but pretty good none the less. Pretty repetative as well.

10. (hed) Plante Earth-"Swan Dive" 5/5
A really great song that is just too messed up to describe.

11. Taproot-"Day By Day" 3/5
Unoriginal nu-metal. Catchy, but worthless.

12. Endo-"Malice" 2/5
Horrible except for the chorus...

13. Flybanger-"Blindworld" 2/5
Like Endo's "Malice" it has a cool chorus...

14. Half Cocked-"Sober" 4/5
A great punk song that has nothing to do with the rest of the album. The forntwoman's vocals are incredible. Real old school punk type stuff. Really cool.

15. Saliva-"Your Disease" 1/5
Yuck. The album's closer is the worst track on the album. Talentless nu-metal. Horrid.

So there you have it, the album in a nutcase. Oops, I mean nutshel, sorry. The album is worth buying for the Pantera and System of a Down songs because this is the only C.D. that they were released on. It's not the best soundtrack ever, but ya know something? Not bad either...
