5.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT COLLECTION, October 31, 2000

This review is from: The Dracula Book of Great Vampire Stories (Paperback)
This collection of vampire stories brings together 13 stories that were published in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Lesser known but by no means inferior authors join familiar authors like Bram Stoker and Sheridan Le Fanu. The stories begin with an imaginatively illustrated first letter. For example, Carmilla has a Gothic letter "C" that towers above the print and is decorated with flows and small figures thus setting the tone for the story. It is interesting the "the Horla" by Maupassant was included here. It is usually considered more of a ghost story. The remaining works are atmospheric and creepy.

In short, a well-considered selection of stories that will please vampire lovers everywhere.

It filled with classic vampire stories that EVERY Dracula fan needs to have. I bought this book 3 years ago and have read it front to back 15 times! It doesn't get old, just more enjoyable; like a good friend.

4.0 out of 5 stars dracula book of great vampire stories, January 6, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Dracula Book of Great Vampire Stories (Paperback)
The best story was "Carmilla". The ending was predictable, as most are. "Mrs. Amworth" and "Dracula's Guest" wer also very good. Some of the weakest story was "Four Wooden Stakes".

Overall, it's good for the price.
