Amazon.com Product Description

Dracula Resurrection is a new story based on the characters from Bram Stoker's novel. The book ended as Dracula rose from his coffin bed only to be defeated by a stake to the heart and turned to dust by the last rays of the setting sun. Jonathan takes his rescued fiancée to London to recover from the illness caused by the puncture marks in her neck.

The game commences seven years later. Married to Mina and comfortably living in London, Jonathan thinks the nightmare is behind them until one day, when he returns home to a letter. In the letter, Mina tells him she has gone to Transylvania, finally unable to ignore the call of her blood. Jonathan follows quickly and discovers he has very little time to find Mina before it is too late. For you see, Dracula has returned....

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Much Enjoyed This Game, December 25, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Dracula Resurrection (CD-ROM)
First of all, I am 40 *cough* years old, so my patience for some of the more complicated puzzle games tends to wear thin. I go for games that grab me visually and story-wise.

I've always loved Dracula and when I saw this, I grabbed it. I was pleased from the moment the game began. Here was a game that I could walk through and get caught up in. And believe me, the sound effects do draw you in, as do the superb 3D graphics! I made sure to turn up my sound and that certainly enhanced the creepiness of the game.

As for the puzzles, they were fairly simple; gather objects, choose which one to use where. Some of the later puzzles took more thought.

Like the other reviewers, I wish the game were longer; so, I purchased Dracula: The Last Sanctuary. I have not played that yet, but will soon.

I highly recommend this game if you're like me and enjoy a game for its music, graphics and story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Graphics and Animation, August 21, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Dracula Resurrection (CD-ROM)
This game has awesome graphics and animation, seamlessly blended together. It looks more like an animated film than a game. The sound is also very cinematic - powerful, dramatic, reminiscent of the best film scores. This is great if your main reason for playing games is to explore cool worlds and enjoy the scenery/storyline, but if you are more interested in a challenge, this may not be the game for you. Some of the puzzles are moderately challenging, but there aren't many of them. The game ends too soon, after 4-6 hours. Buy it anyway. It's an experience you shouldn't miss.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very, very spooky, August 30, 2000
This review is from: Dracula Resurrection (CD-ROM)
You sit there watching the intro movie. Suddenly you find yourself in a snowy countryside - outside in the dark - with a full moon overhead and THINGS rustling around. You make for the inn right in front of you, but the whole building is hung with garlic bulbs. It really doesn't feel much safer ...

Dracula is a seriously unnerving game. It's not gory, it's not full of things running after you - it's wandering around in dark places at night with rustly, squeaking noises around you. It's even worse when you get to the castle and you can hear stone grating around, apparently by itself-?

The graphics are very good, the characters precisely modelled, right down to bad teeth. (Ugh.) The scenes are brilliant, even the snowy outdoor scenes which are reputedly a nightmare to do. The story is also exciting, as you not only try to rescue Mina but to avoid Dracula's peasant henchmen and bats, as well as taking the really dangerous route - of course - to the castle. But the animations are truly spectacular, in particular Jonathan's escape from the mine in the cart.

There is one downfall to Dracula: namely, it's very dark. Not gothic dark or plot dark, just plain dark. Most of the time when you're indoors you can't see where you're going. It wouldn't be so bad, but key items and locations are hidden in these dark areas. I had to use hints just to FIND things.

Other than that, this is a good game, if a bit short.
