5.0 out of 5 stars Great read for the Dracula fan., March 27, 2009
This review is from: Dracula Scrapbook (Hardcover)
One of the most influential books that I read on the Count growing up was this book, a reprint of the 1976 book by author Peter Haining.

Haining is always an interesting Horror historian, spending time on history as well as little known facts and speculation to interest the die hard fan.
While containing alot of history that is familiar in many guides, Haining touches on alot of areas that few authors explored at the time(and now).

These include a chapter on the impact of Nosferatu, the several differences between the Count in the novel and and film. A rare interesting interview with Bela Lugosi, a look at the various Van Helsings of Cinema and a "what if" on the possibility of Boris Karloff portraying the famous Monster. Of course he also includes history of the historical Vlad Tepes and the creation of Stoker's novel as well.

Haining keeps this interesting by including rare photographs from various films and books, many not seen elsewhere.
This book is a must have for the Horror fan who can't read enough about the world's most
