2.0 out of 5 stars Not a complete book, just an installment September 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I personally don't like cliffhangers. I think they're a cheap way to get a reader to buy the next book, rather than relying on skill and quality for the next sale. Yes, there are times when there is an overarching story line that extends past an individual book, but usually there's some sort of closure on one of the story lines. That's not the case here. This is not the first book in a series, it's the first 34 chapters of a longer book. And even then, there is usually some indication that a book has ended. Here, it cuts off so abruptly that you almost think you didn't download the book properly and the last chapters are missing. So that would have thrown me even from a stellar book worthy of a 5 star review, which this isn't.

On the positive side, the plot almost makes up for the downsides. Talia is an advertising executive who almost loses her job, then conceives a brilliant plan to save her job by creating a Dracula theme park in Romania using the real vampire she has just rescued. She assembles an interesting cast of secondary characters to help her, and along the way it becomes clear that there are larger forces at work. But the quality starts to deteriorate in the last quarter of the book, so I skimmed it to find out how the story would resolve itself (because it really was interesting). Only to find out that, behold, the story did not in fact resolve itself in any way.

Other reviewers have commented on the fact that the heroine is very unappealing at first but warms up as the book goes along. This is true, but she doesn't warm up very much and you never see what Drake sees in her. Particularly since she is mostly just using him to save her job. Drake is, well, sweet. He does whatever she tells him to do, and doesn't have much of a personality.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic story that had me hooked from the first line. November 25, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Talia Quinton is a professional, who works for advertising and for years she has worked her butt off, to get a promotion, but then her boss calls her in and she is given the job she didn't expect. She has been given the job of advertising for Romania. One evening on her way home, she finds a man left for dead, so she rescues him and takes him back to her place, and she finds out that he needs blood, has fangs, and is a vampire, a creature she never imagined existed. Drake is unlike any man she has ever met, even though he is a vampire, a creature of the night, she doesn't fear him, if anything he makes her feel safe and there is a pull between them that is beyond powerful and addicting. After she realizes what Drake really is, she decides to work vampires in with her advertising project with Romania, to build a theme park called Draculaville, and the focus will be Drake. Soon Talia doesn't realize that she and Drake will be thrown into a world with warring vampire factions, and they will soon be thrown in the midst of the battle, and they will have to fight to protect each other.

I was asked to review Draculaville I-Discovery in New York, and I am so glad I accepted it. Lately I have been so busy with reading and life, I haven't been able to accept many author request for reviews, but when I read the blurb, I knew I needed to give this one a try. Draculaville I was filled with so much tension, paranormal bite, and mysterious intrigue to wet my appetite. When I first started reading, I was instantly dragged into the story, and before I knew it, I couldn't put it down. The author sets up the story in a way that instantly captivates your attention from the first page. It begins with Talia, about to learn what job she will have.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

In DraculaVille 1 Talia finds Drake, a handsome and newly changed vampire left to die in an alley. Talia takes Drake home not knowing what he is, just that he was beaten up and dying. It become obvious after a day or two what Drake is and Talia starts to have some feelings towards him. He is pretty lost and vulnerable and she is a strong person so she is really the stronger personality of the two. She ends up telling her two best friends (only friends really) about Drake and what he is and they become bonded as an odd but true family. Drake doesn't remember much of his past and keeps getting little flashes here and there. Talia is an ad executive in a large firm. She has her own issues as work as been everything to her and she finds they are not as loyal to her as she has been to them. While taking off a night to have fun at the carnival they find Pip a young boy that had recently been turned into a vampire like Drake. Drake feels fatherly towards him and he and Talia end up taking him home and a new person is added to the "family."
At Talia's agency she is not given the plumb assignment she thinks she is getting and gets instead the country of Romania. They are in terrible money straights and want to have more tourists come and see their beautiful country. Talia thinks that they should be using their notoriety as Dracula's home to build a big theme park that is build around the story of Dracula. She uses Drake as the model for Dracula and the campaign is a big hit with the very eccentric Romanian government officials.
During this time their are the rouge vampires to deal with, the clan that they are infringing on that make them promise that Talia will allow Drake to turn her as they are mates.
