This is some great Australian rock!, September 24, 2004
This review is from: Drag (Audio CD)
I found this in the clearance section of a record store I go to from time to time and I picked this up just because. For such a cheap find, it was an excellent pick! It's hard to describe or compare, but it's really great overall (tracks 4, 5, and 6 are my favorites). If I were to do comparisons, some examples I can think right now of are some stuff by Modest Mouse and Mundy, Morrisey's latest album, Nada Surf's "Inside of Love," and, in a slight stretch, even some of the more laid-back songs of Japanese pop rocker hitomi can all be used to give you an idea of what this album is like.
Overall, if you're into Irish or British alternative rock/punk music, then you should definitely give this a listen. It never reaches some of the high intensity of some music in the genre (some Ash stuff somes to mind), but it should keep you interested all the way through.
Extra bit on info: Track 3 is actually named "Ka" (and printed in an odd version of the Japanese character for the syllable) and is slightly distracting and out of place on the album. It's just a 6 second recording of a Japanese woman basically saying, in Japanese, "everyone, next track is 'take me with you' please listen."
