5.0 out of 5 stars Good sourcebook for any DM
Cult of the Dragon is a must for any DM interested in the more established "bad guys" of the Forgotten Realms, especially in the Heartlands region.

Much like the Ruins of Zhentil Keep revealed some of the inner workings of the notorious Zhentarim, Cult of the Dragon does much of the same thing. It offers much history, current info of Cult cells, new spells,...

I really hope Forgotten Realms is *really* forgotten sometime very soon. TSR is wasting good money and manpower that should be used to bolster better campaign settings like Birthright and Greyhawk.

Much like the Ruins of Zhentil Keep revealed some of the inner workings of the notorious Zhentarim, Cult of the Dragon does much of the same thing. It offers much history, current info of Cult cells, new spells, monsters, and magical items unique to the Cult and their draconian allies.

Excellent writing and nice format also. Once again this is a must recommended for all Forgotten Realms fans.

4.0 out of 5 stars ...and the dead dragons shall rule..., December 31, 1999
This review is from: Cult of the Dragon (Advanced Dungeons & Dragons/Forgotten Realms) (Paperback)
The Dracolich, a creature shrouded in fear and dark sorceries. So too has the mysterious cult which worships them been shrouded, but no more the shroud has been lifted! Long the odd man out of all the mad power groups of the Realms, this wonderful game supplement by Dale Donovan lays bare the lore surrounding not only the Cult of the Dragon as it is today, but as it was. This supplement chronicles it's evolution from a mistranslated line in an ancient text, to the power hungry cell structure that threatens the realms today. Provided within are several Creatures, including the mighty Dracolich, used by the Cult. The text also provides numerous spells and magic items, most of which are unique to the Cult and it's followers. The presentation, and quantity of information and realms lore are a wonderful addition to any Realms DM's library, but don't let that scare you, this supplement could fit in any campaign world. It's a keeper!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well done, August 31, 1999

I'm glad Sammaster is finally told in a Resource for DM's. It's very good to see how a Dracolich is created and talked to. The opening conversation with a Dragon is very well done. The new monsers, spells, and plots are very helpful for any DM wishing to include the CoTD in their campaign

5.0 out of 5 stars How does the Cult of the Dragon Work, now you can find out., April 24, 1998

This review is from: Cult of the Dragon (Advanced Dungeons & Dragons/Forgotten Realms) (Paperback)
This is another very good book in the Forgotten Realms line, dealing with one of the more mysterous of the secret societies in Forgotten Realms. The Harpers are good, the Zhent's want to control trade, but what are the Cults goals and how did they get them? With this book you can find this out and much more. Also the art work is excelent, and the new monsters very strange. I really liked it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A comprehensive guide, February 23, 1999

If you are planning to use the CotD in your campaign then this book is a must. Otherwise, the dracoliches, new monsters, dragon spells & deadly Sammaster created magic could liven any broken DM's dreams to crush an insolent party. I recommend this book because of it's possibilities, if fully explored by the right DM.
