4.0 out of 5 stars Missing too many songs, March 20, 2011
This review is from: Dragon Age 2 (MP3 Download)
Okay. So I have the actual soundtrack that came from the DA2 signature edition. This soundtrack for sale here is missing more than half of the songs. I guess there's some sort of limit for what can go on what. If you didn't order the signature then you won't be getting all of the songs. However, what is on this soundtrack you can buy for less than the cost of a meal at Burger King is good. Rogue Heart especially is one of those songs that makes you want to just sit there and listen to how beautiful it is.

If you didn't get the signature edition soundtrack, then get this.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good listen., February 10, 2012
This review is from: Dragon Age 2 (MP3 Download)
This is a good album to listen to, I'd recommend it if you are a fan of the game. It's not as good as the DA: Origins soundtrack, but this is well produced and worth a listen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stunning & Emotional Part 1 Album Release, September 19, 2011
By
Kaya R. Savas (North Hollywood, CA) - See all my reviews
(VINE VOICE)
This review is from: Dragon Age 2 (MP3 Download)
Inon Zur got his start on Saturday morning television doing shows like Power Rangers In Space and Big Bad Beetleborgs. Now he's one of the most renowned video game composers in the industry. Inon has scored a wide number of hit games like SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs, Crysis, Prince Of Persia, Dragon Age: Origins, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. What separates Inon from the rest is his sonic palette. He has a wide array of incredible sounds that he can bring to a musical soundscape to enrich and enliven the universe the players are in. Born in Israel, Inon has a unique voice and style that gives American video games a cultural energy.

For Dragon Age II Inon continues off the foundation he did for Dragon Age: Origins. What makes his score so fantastic is that even though it is a fantasy game he doesn't treat it as such. By keeping the score grounded in reality and utilizing certain ethnic instrumentation we get a certain medieval feel. The score feels like a period piece and transports us to a world that feels real. It's similar to the way Howard Shore approached The Lord Of The Rings by creating a reality based in fantasy. The emotional motifs that carry the music are quite stunning as well. Now, the album is only 30 minutes and is being offered at a reduced price. No worries as this is merely the first release as a second part of more music should be coming down the pipe. It's unfortunate that we couldn't get a more well rounded album because the flow of this shortened experience does feel... well, shortened.

I loved Zur's work on the Fallout series, but if you're looking for a more melodic and thematic experience then the musical world of Dragon Age is a great place to look. For only $3.99 on you can't go wrong.
