As a pretty casual gamer, I thoroughly enjoyed Origins - The controls are easy to master, and the combat system isn't too complicated. I think the only qualm I had about the combat system was only having 6 shortcut slots for a multitude of spells. Granted, they give you like a shortcut for your spellbook, but I thought it was a little annoying flipping through it trying to find the right spell or ability. For the more experienced players, however, this might not even be a problem. For combat, you're also able to set up specific combat tactics for each of your party members, or you have the choice of cycling through your party members during combat to use their abilities. Not only does this give you more control, but also lets you 'try out' other classes than your own.
One of the best features of the game is being able to interact with party members and other NPC's and influence how they feel about your character. For me, this was the first time I have come across such a feature, and it definitely gives a whole new depth to the RPG experience. The replay value is pretty decent, as well, since there are many different classes and back stories to choose from, as well as specific class configurations, et cetera. Also, you are able to interact differently with NPC's the next time around, and some might even act differently towards you depending on which race and back story you choose. Overall, I feel like the game was pretty linear. While you could revisit places you have been to before, however, I personally didn't see much of a point (unless I had forgotten something or had a side quest) since the enemies don't respawn, and there is hardly a need for "grinding" in the game. (The lack of respawning also limits the amount of loot/gold you can get throughout the game as well). As far as the story goes, I liked it a lot and felt like it had enough depth to it - It's also nice to be able to talk to your party members about their own personal stories. There are lots of other little great things about the game that I haven't mentioned, like the professions/secondary abilities or the little tidbits of lore you can collect, etc. Great game, I thought it was worth the purchase! :)

Having been an avid player of Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights way back when, I was really excited about Dragon Age! It definitely does not disappoint! This game was super fun, I loved the story and the gameplay. Definitely invest in this one, it'll be a worthy addition to your game collection!

im 38 and have played vid games since i got my atari system, since then ive played every type of game on every system minus thew ds and i must say dragon age is the best game ive ever played! there is a game called popful mail i play on my old sega cd and it along with legend of legia, star ocean, lunar, morrowind and oblivion, and a few other games, i thought id never find a game that captivated me like dragon age does. i didnt sleep more than 4 hours a night for 4 days till i beat this game, and that was on casual, easier than easy lol! I cant wait to start over on a harder difficulty and make different choices to see how it plays out this time around, i even pre-ordered the dragons age origins awakenings!!!

I was excited to hear about the new combat system, and even more excited over the demo. Unfortunately the game felt unfinished, lots of things left out, holes in the story, and repeat of area maps. I had fun playing the game, and would reccommend it to others into this genre, but when compared to the first Dragon Age it is a dissapointment.
