5.0 out of 5 stars Dragonball GT
This was a really great anime series. I liked the theme music even though it took me a while to get used to it. The storylines are great. Like it's predecessor Dragonball Z, the stories can sometimes be a bit drug out. But like Dragonball Z the series certainly does make up for it with a lot of action and suspense. 1.0 out of 5 stars DBGT does not do anything good for DBZ at ALL!
I love Dragon Ball Z, and some of Dragon Ball (when Goku was a kid). Now DBGT, oh come on, now this is not entertainment. Everybody seems weak (except the two guys who made DBZ what it is today Goku and Vegeta).

10 reasons why it is not worth it (I mean the whole series of DBGT)

This was a really great anime series. I liked the theme music even though it took me a while to get used to it. The storylines are great. Like it's predecessor Dragonball Z, the stories can sometimes be a bit drug out. But like Dragonball Z the series certainly does make up for it with a lot of action and suspense. This series also ends on a high note with Goku seeming more like a Japanese version of Superman. Hey, like Superman they even made a statue of Goku to show how extraordinary of a character he is.

1.0 out of 5 stars DBGT does not do anything good for DBZ at ALL!, February 25, 2007

1.Don't start off good. I mean we should have been able to see the training sessions between Goku and Uub. They started the series when the training was over.
2.Pathetic Bad Guys, except I thought Super 17 was somewhat cool.
3.Not enough action
4.Pan is older now and she has turned into such a snob. How rude can she really be, I mean if I was Goku I would have tought her a lesson. How did Goku handle those hateful things she said to him, later in the series.
for Example: In the Dragons Saga, when their fighting the first evil Shenron, after he is defeated, they get the Dragon Ball and Goku accidentally drops it back in the dark polluted water that the dragon of pollution made, and both Goku and Pan refuse to go in, Giru retrieves it, and then Pan says to Giru, wow Giru your braver then grandpa, and then all Goku has to say is Gee Thanks. Not to mention she is very hateful toward that robot Giru, she should have been nicer, all she's basically been doing is pounding him to a pulp.
4.Fusion is weak in this series not anything like fusion was in dragon ball z (Gotenks and Vegito were basically controlling the universe, they were unstoppable). Not in this they still get their buts kicked.
5.Everyone is basically weak in this (especially Piccolo and Trunks), but Goku and Vegeta still have some fight left in them after all these years, so I guess they are still pretty cool.
6.The english dubb is nothing compared to the original Japanese version. I liked somethings said on the subtitles of the japanese version better then the english.
7.Some Z warriors from DBZ have retired from fighting or are just too lazy to fight anymore.
8.The series should have had more episodes, not just 64, DBZ had about 300 episodes or so, and DB had like 100 and something, so this series should have had at least 150 - 200 episodes.
9.The jokes are not funny, and mostly everything that is meant to be funny ends up being embarassing instead.
10.If you think about it, it gets very expensive as you try to collect the whole series, they should release it in season box sets like they are recently doing with Dragonball Z.

I had already bought this set for my husband, but we are going to keep it and give it next year for our grandson. They got into Dragonball because of the Granddad Mike. Thanks

3.0 out of 5 stars Too Much of a Power house, June 13, 2009
This review is from: Dragon Ball GT Volume 1-5 Box Set (DVD)
Dragonball got good at the end of the series. Dragonball Z was fairly good overall. Dragonball GT had it's moments. The only thing I didn't like about this series is that they go too far with the power levels. In fact, in one of these episodes, in one of these volumes of this particular boxed set, Goku was fighting an enemy named Rildo and said something to the lines of, "He's even more powerful than Majin Buu." Considering Goku didn't seem to be trying in the fights, that was a lie.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Dragon Ball GT Volume 1-5 Box Set (DVD)
I've always heard that GT was an excellent anime but when I bought this I was extremely DISAPOINTED.First of all there isn't enough action, the fights are so TOTALLY LAME and it just doesn't live up to Dragonballz standards. In my opinion it ruined the entire Db series and thats no joke. There isn't even any humor in it and humor is one of the many things which the Dragonball series are famous for.The only good thing about this was the music in the dub and nothing else. The only saga in Gt worth watching is the Super 17 saga which is excellent but the baby saga shoudn't even be put up for sale.

3.0 out of 5 stars FUNI's most messed up anime! Party!, December 19, 2005
This review is from: Dragon Ball GT Volume 1-5 Box Set (DVD)
FUNImation, dubbers of the excellent Fullmetal Alchemist series, Yu Yu Hakusho, and of course, Dragonball. Dragon Ball, for the past 10 years, has only been going up until late 2003. In 2003, Dragon Ball just got dragged back down into hell, GT was dubbed with some of the most terrible music and most saturated footage ever seen. The footage looked great by the time the actual DVDs were released. Sadly, FUNImation let Faulcnar go, his music was alright. What FUNI put in place of him was the infamous Mark Menza. Mark Menza's music is either messed up because of terrible guitar methods or when you hear rapping that is more off beat than the theme song for Dragon ball Z.

Not only did FUNImation milk Dragon Ball, but so did Toei animation. Toei Animation had been adding stupid filler footage since Dragon Ball, some of it humorous, some of it creating plot holes. Toei Animation adds some terrible plotholes in GT.

The plot of the show, well it's just bad. According to FUNImation, it has been 10 years since Son Goku took Uub with him to train, which is yet another mistake. According to the Dragon Ball GT Perfect Files, it has only been 5 years since Goku took Uub away. Son Goku and Uub fight an extraordinary exam. Uub defeats Son Goku and officialy becomes Son Goku's successor. Son Goku takes a much needed break, but just before he flies away to go home, he spots Pilaf. Pilaf becomes freightned and wishes that Son Goku was a child again. The Black Star Dragon Balls grant that wish and threaten the Earth. The BSDBs cause the planet it was on to explode unless the Dragon Balls are gathered to that planet within one year. Son Goku, Son Goten, and Trunks get ready to search for the Dragon Balls when Pan sneaks onto the ship in Son Goten's place. The gang try to find all the Dragon Balls until they encounter Dr. Myuu and his mutant robots. Then it's pretty much beat downs until the end.

FUNImation rates the show PG, I honestly don't care what my little cousins and nephews, neices, ect. see, but I know there are many mother's who do care. Dragon Ball GT includes some blood, toilet jokes, and nudity. This boxed set only comes in uncut versions, you can always buy the edited versions for the young one in your life. The edited versions all together are cheaper than this boxed set as well.

3.0 out of 5 stars Even Dragon Ball GT (uncut) is still like Pokemon, November 18, 2005

What I mean by compairing it to Pokemon is the animation is no-way near mature looking like the early DBZ episodes. The fighting is so wack this might as well a anime from 4kids studios.

About Dragon Ball GT, long ago a race known as the Tuggles were invaded and destroyed by a conquering Saiyan army. The Tuggles were thought to be extinct, but before their annihilation, they found a way to preserve a single soul, that soul has now become a powerful mutant named baby (what an odd name). He can control other bodies.
