I thought it was a good movie,

I read another review for this game before deciding to put my two cents in. First of all, if you can't like this game because of a Crystal Ball, because it's against your religious beliefs, then you shouldn't be watching Dragon Ball Z in the first place. The show is, afterall, fiction. I personally like this game. It fills in some gaps from the show where you wonder, "Hey, what was everyone doing?" in the year that it took the Saiyans to get to Earth after Raditz died.
I've always hoped they'd make a RPG for DBZ, where it didn't always need to have buttons being bashed to get combos. This takes a little more thought, as it is a turn based game. I only wished that they had just went for the whole Dragon Ball universe, but hopefully they'll continue on with this spirit and make the rest of the Sagas in this way.

A Solid JRPG in the Dragon Ball Universe,

This review is from: Dragon Ball: Attack of the Saiyans (Video Game)
Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans (originally branded as Dragon Ball Kai in Japan, renamed domestically because Kai has not been licensed for international release at this time) is an RPG in the style of the SNES and PS1 greats. It offers a long adventure that takes players from the end of Dragon Ball through the battle with Vegeta in Dragon Ball Z.
The graphics are basically 2D sprites with some scaling. It works for what it is, and, appropriately enough, the colorful and bright imagery matches the overall tone of the series and the manga. It also features some memorable music in parts. The stylus controls of last year's Dragon Ball Origins are gone, replaced with traditional controls and menu options. Everything works well in this game. There are a couple of negative aspects of this title. One is that, though it is a long game, some of its length seems artificial. It deviates from the story to have players engage in something that is little more than a glorified fetch quest every now and then. A second negative -more of a perspective issue, really- is that it's an easy game. Each save point completely restores the party's energy, and there are a good number of them scattered throughout the game. A final issue is the voice acting. There is some limited voiceover work, primarily reserved for attack names during battle. The actors and actresses are those of the Japanese version. Fans of that version will, of course, be thrilled. Those who prefer the dub voices, particularly Sean Schemmel's Goku (Masako Nozawa, the Japanese voice actress, is a woman), will be a bit less pleased. The lack of a voiced dub is a bit lazy, but it is necessary to note that the Japanese cast does a great job with the few voiced bits in the game. DBZ fans have probably already made up their minds about this one; if you're still undecided, it really is worth picking up. The game has numerous in-universe references that will make long-time fans happy to see. Overall, it's a solid product, one of the best DBZ games we've seen in a while. If you don't like DBZ, this game won't change your mind, though if you like classic RPGs, it's still worth a look.

I was stoked to see that DBZ finally made an RPG that's not about cards! And to tell you the truth it doesn't dissapoint. Sure it has some cons and whatnot, but believe me if you've played an JRPG and that's what you're expecting, that's what you'll get.
Sure with the story if you watched the Anime it looks like a pretty short story, but surprisingly it's a verry long game you get to play as the main Z heroes from that Saga,if i'm missing someone I guess it would be Chiaotzu, it would have been fun to play as him though. But still you get Yamcha,Tien,Krillin,Goku,Gohan and Piccolo. and they each have their own classic attacks like Yamcha's Wolf Fang Fist, Goku's Spirit Bomb, Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon, Krillin's Destructo Disk, Gohan's RAAAAAAAAAGE! and Tien's Containment Wave(if you've seen Dragon Ball you know why that move is funny). The cons are a little obvious....Goku, Piccolo and Gohan are the strongest characters....the rest will have a hard time keeping up. The leveling up and adding manually the stat gains it's not for everybody. The cutscenes, dialogues, whatever that isnt fighting its actually pretty cheaply done. Characters like King Yemma are drawn in the background and well it's boring and limited it's not their fault cause it's obviously not PS3/XBOX360, but you know...if you dont care about the story it's pretty boring lol. Good news is that you can skip that crap. And the pros(saved the best for last), the bosses are pretty fun, you can costumize the characters to put them as you want, I myself am a big Yamcha fan,soo I made him as strong as ever. The story itself even though the cutscenes and animation is boring the story itself is verry interesting, fills a lot of plot holes, like what happened to Raditz, how did Piccolo and Gohan bonded, the training for the Saiyans, Emperor Pilaf has a part in the game,YOU CAN FIGHT VS. BROLY! and of course you will get like 12 or more hours of gameplay. In my opinion I like it more than Legacy of Goku GBA games. Sooo if you got a Nintendo DS and already are tired of Pokemon, Mario, Dragon Quest, etc. This is a fresh new game about DBZ, it's an RPG the gameplay is easy to get into, addictive as hell, got it's funny moments. Scout ahead go to youtube see the raw gameplay, if it looks good give it a try, it's $20. And don't finish the game until you have fought Broly, capish? I give it a 8.5/10
