This is the latter half of my favorite manga series ever by far (and voted the #3 manga of ALL TIME in Japan by the experts!) The four stars is not for the manga itself (which gets five stars), the four stars is for Viz. I had subscribed to the large-size singles back in 1999 when Viz was first translating the DB/Z mangas. When I heard of the VizBig I got excited, I could have the big-sized manga I was already used to reading (just like the Shonen Jumps you get in Japan!) Then I hear it's EDITED. Nope, sorry. Not doing it. Then I hear this box set of DBZ manga is NOT edited so I snatched it up. Sadly, it is indeed edited--no middle fingers, nothing but "Hercule" as far as the eye can see (Mr. Satan is one of my favorite characters, I hate seeing "Hercule" splashed on all his belongings) and the more colorful curse words are gone. Come on, "bastard" isn't so bad. What's the deal?

So... while I don't have overdramatically suicidal issues with this (I gotta admit Amazon's $[...] price was VERY nice), I just want my favorite manga in the universe to be in my hands unaltered as well as in a language I can understand. Should I just be happy with knowing in my head where all the edits are and "see" the middle fingers and Mr. Satan and "hear" the 'bastards' and such? *sigh* I suppose I'll have to be. [...]. Yes, I said DAMN.

The box set has it all. For fans of dragonball z it's a dream come true. The manga is beautifully illustrated with a superb cast of characters, and an excellent, original story. The adventures of Goku, his friends, and his comrades takes the reader from earth to heaven to around the universe as they come face to face with the most threatening, evil, and powerful villains ever seen. This is truly a masterpiece, complete with Akira Toriyama's trademark humor, spectacular illustrations, and memorable/fully developed characters. A great buy, and a great gift for any manga/comic book/dragonball/graphic novel fan.

This was a wonderful product, the packaging was adequate, the box itself was in perfect condition, and the books were mint. The story line is very riveting and once you start, you can't put the novels down. The shipping time was very quick and the estimated time of arrival was exact to the arrival.       Which to buy?
      think of it this way, too...the vizbig editions come out every few months...these are all out now...i went to borders and with their 40% off coupon, i got the complete collection for $110.
