5.0 out of 5 stars Dragonball GT: Final Bout Review, November 25, 2001

Dragonball GT: Final Bout is an excellent game. The graphics are phenomenal, every character is in 3D. Although it is quite hard to control experts will manage to figure it out quickly, others will find it will take them a little longer. There are lots of modes to play in, you can train character up in the build up mode. And if a friend has the game and trained a character, you can battle by using the memory card. Also there is a tournament mode in which you fight it out with other characters to be the champion. Last but not least there is a normal exhibition mode were you can verse the computer or a friend. There is 19 characters, but some you have to unlock. Everybody's favourite is there. The characters are:

Normal
1. Goku
2. Pan
3. Trunks
4. Gohan
5. Piccolo
6. Frieza
7. Cell
8. Super Saiyan Vegeta
9. Majin Buu
10.Little Goku
11.Super Saiyan Vegetto

Unlocked
12.Super Saiyan Goku (Z)
13.Super Saiyan Goku (GT)
14.Super Saiyan Trunks (Z)
15.Super Saiyan Trunks (GT)
16.Super Saiyan Gogeta
17.Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks
18.Super Saiyan 4 Goku
19.Super Saiyan Little Goku

As you can see, a wide selection of characters. The sound is good, and overall a great game.

I give a rating of 98%

Ken

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST Fighting Game I have ever played!!!!!!!, January 8, 2002

Wasssup!
This is my review for Dragonball GT:Final Bout and I just wanna start by saying that this game rocks!I rented this from Blockbuster and the second I started playing I knew this game was great. The game has great graphics(the characters look very nice as well as the projectile beams.)
The sound effects weren't half bad either. The sound effects were original and nicely made. The music wasn't all that great but if you don't like it,just put a CD in to listen to.
The game is very original(aside from the Super Butoden series on the SNES)including everyones favorite Dragonball Z/GT characters
including Goku,Gohan,Piccolo,Vegeta, and many many more. Each character has his/her own special finishing move that is really cool looking.
As for replayability, you'll be playing this game for hours on end to earn all the secret stuff. There are multiple secret characters to earn and of course its not a good fighting game without a multiplayer function.
All in all,I thought this was a excellent game and I think that it deserves % out of 5 stars.I urge you,if you can't buy this really rare game, then at least go out and rent.I assure you that you won't be disapointed...

To me,this is one of the best fighting games on the Playstation console.First of all,i like the chosen characters in this game. There are a total of 17 playable characters and each of them have a speech at the beginning and end of a battle.Play in build up mode to raise your your power and defense, then fight against a friend. It is possible to knock him out with one punch! The music?Couldn't be better, though the japanese versions music differs from this one.My best bet is to get it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dragon Ball GT Final Bout (From Dave and Kevin), January 1, 2002
By
This review is from: Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout (Video Game)
Though all 3 of the DBZ games have been out for quite some time now, they continue to sell as more and more people are becoming obsessed with the ongoing action soap opera that is Dragon Ball Z. The third and possibly the last installment of DBZ games on the Playstation is Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout. This is the only game to be released and distributed on the American market. However, there were only a couple of prints done on it and as a result, it is extremely hard to find. DBGT takes a turn from the previous games since it uses polygonal characters and a whole new fighting engine. Whereas the graphics are much nicer, the gameplay is very slow and extremely difficult to the point where it almost seems unfair.
If you watch DBZ every day on the Cartoon Network like most fans then seeing your favorite characters in 3-D polygons will appear strange at first. Though they look very nice, they do not really look like they do in the cartoon. They almost look too good in this version. Still, this is not the main drawback to the game. Out of all of the aspects of the game, I would have to say that graphics are its best feature.
Play on the other hand is a different story. The response time is very slow, and each move that the characters do is executed at a snail's pace. You'll hit the punch button and watch the character go through a huge animation of punching. It is almost impossible to perform any combos and so the action is very slow back and forth. The control contributes to this problem. In addition to punch, kick, and block there are special moves that each character can perform. Since there is a focus on watching much of the animation the special moves are difficult to do. In addition to that, the game pauses while the animation happens. This is supposed to make it feel like the show, but it just slows the game down.
The major problem with the game is the fact that the computer controlled characters have no trouble with the sluggish control and can execute all of their moves with perfect timing. They can also anticipate moves and block unlike human controlled characters that have the burden of slow response to the block command. The same problem is true to all of the counter moves, which are difficult to execute as well. The one thing that the game boasts is the "Meteor Smash" finishing move. When executed the animation looks very smooth and cool. However, like everything else it is very difficult for you to execute whereas the computer can and will do it every time.
The main addition to Final Bout is the Build-Up mode. In it you choose a character and put it through training fights against all of the other characters. The moves that you perform in these modes will give you experience points and make you stronger in the regular fighting. It is something like an RPG without a story line. Although this is a nice attempt at add in some depth to the game, it gets old very quickly. Be warned-when you start out in this mode you will get whipped very quickly. This is due to the fact that all of the characters start out with much more health than you do. Fair? Not really.
As far as the fun factor goes, this game is fairly lacking. I would have preferred less spectacular graphics and more speed. As it is, I think that only the die-hard Dragon Ball fans will really enjoy the game. If you are not a fan of the series then this game will definitely not convert you into one. It is nothing special in the gaming world, but in the Dragon Ball world, it is very popular. Without the license though, it is a frustrating mediocre fighting game.

5.0 out of 5 stars An awesome game, October 9, 2001

I first rented this game before i knew of its value a long time ago and thought it was truly an awesome game. There are a whole bunch of characters including ones from other sagas besides GT (Cell, Frieza, etc.) Ever sinse I have been keeping my I open to by an english copy (someone bought it from blockbuster). The graphics were amazing, It went well with the story, and even had a "matrix" like part from where when you fire kamehamehas from the air. It is an amazing game many would pay good money for.(Why did they stop making it in english?)

5.0 out of 5 stars DBGT block headed or just bad graphics?, August 1, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout (Video Game)
I've read many reviews of this game; some good, and some bad. Most of the complaints just rattle on and on about the bad graphics, I say get over it! Under the shell of old grphics lays a game with a tournement mode, a training mode and a vs. mode. When the game is first played there are only eight playable characters but playing through the tournement once unlocks everyone. If your a fan of the genre or of the series then I say get this game.

This is a SWEET game. An absolute must-have. You can build up your character of choice. Whatever attack you use, it continually gets stronger. Like, if you use "kick", "kick" gets stronger. My favorite character is Super Little Goku.
