Pimp Muten Roshi,
By "__vampirehunterd" (Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dragon Ball Z - Garlic Jr. - Black Water Mist (DVD)
I read many reviews of the Garlic Jr. episodes - both good and bad. In my oppinion i think these episodes are closer to the stuff you would get in Dragon Ball rather than being Dragon Ball Z. The only consequence of getting it is, you have to watch it in Japanese and read subtitles. That is the only way to watch a DBZ unless you actually know japanese or are japanese. The episodes are a breath of fresh air after watching the Frieza saga drag out (not saying that I didn't like seeing Frieza transform a gazillion times or liked waiting 9 episodes for 5 minutes to pass and Namek to explode). Garlic Jr. and the Spice boys are not the sinister villians usually served up in DBZ but they will suffice because the real treat to this is.....Master Roshi getting back to his dirty ways. The parts where Roshi tries to pick up on Krillin's girl are fantastic schtick that i think DBZ lacks a lot of times. Nothing beats Muten Roshi trying to cop a feel here and pafu pafu over the female anatomy. Plus this DVD sets up for Gohan vs. Cucumber....i mean Piccolo fight. Black Water mist rules then! Very good stuff here ......well at least to me.

The Imortal Tyrant is Back,

This review is from: Dragonball Z, Vol. 29: Garlic Jr. Black Water Mist (Uncut) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Garlic returns from the Dead Zone to take revenge on the world. After taking Kame and Mr. Popo into his custody, Garlic Jr. releases the Black Water Mist on the earth. BWM will make anyone who breathes it become evil. Fortunetely, Gohan, Kirlin, Maron and Ickarus avoid it. However, the rest of the Z fighters attack them. Gohan, Kirlin nd Maron escapes while Picollo fights the rest and gets bitten. After dropping Maron off at Yagerboi's place, Gohan and Kirlin proceed to Kami's lookout with Picolo and Garlic's henchmen awaiting them. This is a real great volume, however you might wanna keep the kids away from the uncut version. There are plenty of scenes from the DBZ movie Dead Zone to help explain if you've never seen the movie. Anyway, a great volume with great action.

I was excited to see this because I was getting bored with the Frieza Saga. It wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. There were some funny parts in it. As much as I hate Krillin I was glad to see he got a girlfriend, even though she was a little strange. Garlic Jr wasn't impressing at all. Even though I own this I wouldn't recommend this for everyone. If you aren't pleased with this tape don't ditch the whole saga. The other two tapes are better.

Super Success!,

This tape is great, especially as it is uncut. I'm sure that the cut dub would be real bad, like the covering with more bathing suit for Marin and no swears. It's great how the new censors are letting in Roshi's pervertic ways, and also I'm sure if the old sensors were in on this, we would regret it. (If you saw the 2nd episode of DBZ, you see they censored tears.)

showing what their up against,

This review is from: Dragonball Z, Vol. 29: Garlic Jr. Black Water Mist (Edited) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
the 3 episodes on this mainly go about explaining how bad the black water mist is and what gohan, krillen, and piccolo are up against. it also leaves you on the edge of your seat, because the last episode ends when gohan and krillen find out that piccolo was infected by the black water mist, meaning gohan and krillen will have to fight garlic jr., the spice boys, and piccolo.

Garlic Bad As Ever,

This review is from: Dragon Ball Z - Garlic Jr. - Black Water Mist (DVD)
These episodes are great because they show how time has passed since the battle with Frieza. Gohan is older and all of Earth's fighters are much stronger. These episodes include Gohan, Piccolo, Kame, and Krillen with the return of the evil Garlic Jr. Garlic Jr. is trying to take over the world and kill Earth's fighters with making them fight against their friends. I would say this was a perfect time to bring back Garlic Jr.

WAS NOT IMPRESSED!,

This review is from: Dragonball Z, Vol. 29: Garlic Jr. Black Water Mist (Uncut) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
WHY MUST YOU ASK? WELL, AFTER SEEING THE LAST EPISODES, THIS SEEMED WIMPY. I MEAN, GOHAN BEAT THIS GUY WHEN HE WAS 5 YEARS OLD AND WAS STRONGER THAN GOKU, IN THE FIRST MOVIE. AND AFTER FACING FRIEZA THIS GUY SHOULD BE A ... ANT IN COMPARISON. IM SO SURE 3 OF THE WORLDS GREATEST FIGHTERS THAT FOUGHT SO MANY BATTLES AN CAME OUT ALIVE AND STRONGER EACH TIME. GARLIC OUGHT TO BE A BIG PUSH OVER TO THESE GUYS. BUT ITS AS IF THE Z FIGHTERS HAVE WIMPED OUT. SORRY TO BE SAYING THIS TO ANY DBZ FAN BUT DONT BUY THIS ONE. IM A BIG DBZ FAN MYSELF AND HAVE ALL EPISODES UP TO GARLIC. AND I WOULD HAVE TO SAY ITS THE WORST IVE SEEN YET. JUST HARD TO COMPARE TO THE FRIEZA SAGA WITCH TOTALLY ROCKS. GOOD TO WATCH ONE TIME MAYBE, BUT DONT INVEST IN A COPY YOU WONT WATCH IT AGAIN BELEIVE ME. AT LEAST THE TRUCKS SAGA HAS STARTED, NOW DO INVEST IN IT. WELL WORTH THE MONEY. THANK YOU! DBZ FANS

A horible DBZ movie,
By zac (Bloomfield Hills, MI United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dragonball Z, Vol. 29: Garlic Jr. Black Water Mist (Uncut) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I own this movie and every DBZ movie that is out in America and ive seen all of the Cell games in English edited. I would have to say this is the worst movie i have seen and the same with the rest of the Garlic Jr. saga. I only bought it becuase i plan on buying all of the tapes. But if your not like that and you just want some good tapes get the sayian saga or androids to cell. I would have to say the best part in this movie is when Vegita is on other planets looking for Goku but that is very short. Don't get me wrong I love DBZ i just do not like this saga at all.
