Surprising gem,

I found this game a nice refreshing return to the card game/rpg mechanics that the were tried out back in the snes era with the Dragonball Z RPG. It was a pleasant surprise to pick up and find they'd built upon the concept to make a pretty solid card game/RPG experience that I'd probably play even without the dragonball motifs over everything. I've noticed this game is particularly good for trips and is fairly addictive, winning quite a bit of friends who wouldn't put it down once giving it a try.

game graphics, etc is good. However the game is a little boring (kind of like playing a board game).

I'm not a big fan of RPG's or card games, but this game is actually fun. After being disappointed with SNK VS CAPCOM Card Battle for the DS, I decided to give this game a try. Depending on which Dragonball you have on your card decides how many spaces you can move on the map or attack power during a battle. You also have a number (1-8 or Z) for defense. Later in the game you can combine cards with the same dragonball/number that helps you get you from point A to point B, as well on the battlefield. The card game follows the DBZ storyline from the Saiyan Saga to the Cell Saga. The animations during the battle are also well done to keep things going.

Dragon Ball Z: Harukanaru Densetsu for the Nintendo DS is a combination of a card game and a board game. You move along a board, making choices about direction, picking up items. When you an encounter an enemy, you card battle.
To begin with, you can choose from a variety of characters, to see their storylines. For each character you are given some basic background, allowed the opportunity to run through some tutorials if you want, and then put onto a board. Then you play your cards (rather than rolling dice) to choose how far you move on a given turn. You can get a variety of items as you move along the board, and you choose which direction you want to go at turns. When you run into enemies, it converts into a card battle situation. You play your cards depending on whether you want to use an item, attack directly, or perform other actions. There isn't a lot of animation during the battles, but they do a good job of making it at least reasonably exciting, to find out who won and how much damage was caused. The game is of course aimed at Dragon Ball Z fans. People trying to play this game without knowing the storyline will be completely lost. They reference characters, relationships and past events without any explanation at all. Just be aware that this was specifically created for fans of the game. The game is rated E for everyone, and it really is suited for all ages. The card battles in general are about losing points, and although there is a death or two implied, they are not shown with graphic visuals. Well recommended for card-loving fans of the Dragon Ball Z series. If you're not a fan of card games, you'll probably want to go for something more action oriented.

I bought this game for my middle child, hoping it would come in time. I can't explain how pleased I was when the game not only came super fast but looks extremely well and plays even better. If this vendr has more DragonBall titles WE WILL RETURN FOR THEM AS WELL!!
