Best of the budokai series! "litterally",
By
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World (Video Game)
I got this game the day it came out, and even sold my original Budokai 3 and Tenkaichi 3 for it. And i'd have to say it was worth it. On the back of the box it says "The Best of the Budokai Series"....it is! I loved the original Budokai 3 and played it for 2 years straight never getting tired of it. And this game is pretty much that game with added bonuses such as mini games and Tenkaichi quality cut scenes which are pretty good. Infinite World uses the same capsule skill system as past dbz games where you can purchase your skills, characters, stages, and etc.
The fighting system is the pretty much the same as Budokai 3, not the over-the-shoulder system used in the Tenkaichi series. So 2 players would NOT use split screen which i prefer cause that just got annoying. Everyone that i've played with so far has their own ultimate moves which most the time have animations with them which is fun to watch. I haven't got to play with every character yet cause i haven't earned or bought them yet, but according to the box there are over 40 characters. One major thing that is different from the rest of the budokai series is that you are able to perform your ultimate without going into hyper mode, which makes ultimates more consistent to pull off during a fight. The music in the game is one of the reasons that i gave the game a 4 star rating, its just kinda annoying and repetitive to me. I usually just go to the options menu and turn off the music. Another reason for the 4 star rating would be the beginning publisher screens that you can't just skip through when you first turn the game on. There are like 6 screens, its just annoying to me. The mini games are the main difference in this game. I haven't played them all yet, but the ones I have played were very entertaining. These are only found in story mode. My personal favorite so far would have to be trying to catch Bubbles (king kai's monkey) on King Kai's really small planet. It is not as easy as it looks, trust me, the monkey is always throwing bananas at you, lol. Another example of a mini game is running along snake sway (very easy to fall off) with limited time. Overall, its a great game to add to the DBZ series, and a good finisher for DBZ games on PS2 (actually not really sure if it is). Basically if you liked playing Budokai 3 and just love the DBZ series, then this game will be good for you. Even though I'm not finished with it, I love it already.

I have been a fan of all DBZ series and video games for awhile and always will be. I was excited to get this game but once i started playing it, there was no new experience for me.
GAMEPLAY----- the gameplay is still the same as the previous games. I SEE NO NEW IMPROVEMENT LOL. its a bit more fast paced and precise but nothing as a new feel. Graphics----- the graphics were pretty good for a ps2 game so i will give it credit. i still am a big fan for those shadow style animated cartoon graphics. Sound--- it could be better. OVERALL---- If you are a big fan of dbz or new to this style of game then you might have a fun time for a while. but if u are deep into fighting games then this game will not even be much of an improvement. I WILL BE EXPECTING BETTER GAMES ON THE NEXT GEN CONSOLES SO STAY UPDATED WIT MY REVIEWS

I'm a big fan of Dragonball Z and, as you can tell by my reviews, I get pretty much any DBZ game that comes out. When I found out that Infinite World was coming out on the PS2, I was kind of skeptical at first of looking into it but decided to get it because of its' low price. After playing it, all I can say is it is a somewhat fun diversion for a little while but I wouldn't call it the best in the Budokai series.
Why? Well, the fighting has been watered down greatly compared to previous games. Gone are the beam battles and over the top power moves. The arenas that you fight in aren't anything new, mostly arenas you've seen before in past Budokai games. You can still modify your character by editing his or her skills as well as tranform and whatnot. Dragon Mission serves as the game's story mode but leaves quite a bit to be desired, I'm afraid. The minigames and missions just aren't that fun to me. There are two other modes: Dragon Duel is a versus mode where you can challenge a second player or the computer, and the unlockable Fighter's Road has you fighting with more than 100 combatants to unlock and take down across four maps. Still, it doesn't make up for the fact that this game is mildly entertaining. For this to be DBZ's last hurrah on the Playstation 2, it's a shame that it didn't go out with alot more glory. As much as I want to recommend this game to any DBZ fan, all I can advise is to rent it first and then decide. You might feel differently than I do about its' content. I can think of alot more I could've did with my money....like get Dragonball Origins.

Infinite World is an excellent addition to the DBZ series of games. Budokai 3 was an excellent game that came about as close to the series as any fighting game could. Then Tenkaichi came out and they somewhat dropped the fighting aspect and moved onto the series simulation aspects. Don't get me wrong, those games are excellent too, but it can be a little difficult to have good matches in those with other people. Infinite World, on the other hand, is somewhat of a return to form.
First off, Infinite World was made by Dimps and feels alot like Budokai 3. That said, it's very different too. It seems that they recognized that Tenkaichi was the series simulator, so they moved on to making a better fighting game. That said, they did so using mechanics from the series as well! Essentially, this is Budokai 3, with strategic uses of Ki, Fatigue, Juggles, Teleport Counters, and Combo Cancels. If you can't master every single one of those aspects, the AI will tear you apart on any difficulty. All in all, this is one of my favorite DBZ games. It's very difficult like many games of olden days, but it does so fairly. If you master the game, the difficulty won't be an issue. I suggest you pick up this and Tenkaichi 2 both. If you can't stand hard games, then get Budokai 3 instead. These three games represent the pinnacle of DBZ.

This is the best of the Budokai series. It came out on 4th November and before I could say T E N K A I C H I my nephew was busy ramming his strategic mind into this superb game with his hands-on as if blowing up worlds isn't too big a deal!
Watch out for the release of the film by 20th Century Fox releasing on 8th April 2009 directed by James Wong with Justin Chatwin as Goku and Chow Yun-Fat as Master Roshi. All you Goku fans and Dragonballz buffs, go for this game! It is the best of the series.

This game is so awsome!! I bought it a few days before Cristmas. And when I bought it I was so amazed. The graphics are pretty cool. And the fighting on it is awsome. This is really fun until you make it to the freiza saga. When you make it there you just get frustrated. The only reason I beat it was because of the handy Fighters Body skill from the skill shop. And the Fried Rice.It goes from the Sayain saga to the Cooler saga. When you beat the Cooler saga you can go to the skill shop and buy the Fighter's Road mode. But for some reason they put the dragonball GT adventure in the middle of the game and not the end. This game also has over 40 awsome and amazing characters and 100 transformations. If you add all the levels together you will get 114 .If you add the modes there will be 4 there is also 25 stages to choose from.I like it more than my tenkaichi game.If you are a new or an old fan of dbZ I recomand this game for people who like dbZ like me.

I've had this game for years now and still bring it out to play with friends. Have it completely beaten and unlocked everything..was the longest game I've ever played to get it to 100%. This is by far the best DBZ game I've ever played and I have played all of them out currently. The game is very technical if you are playing against good people.. Have to think what they will do and try to catch them off guard because it is quite easy to dodge most things as long as you have quick reactions. The single player was amazing and the graphics were excellent for a ps2 game.
