Truly beatiful and exciting story makes a great Box Set, December 30, 2003

This saga seems like a perfect fit for a box set. It details the adventures of an evil monster named Majin Buu. While this saga lacks in the fighting scenes, it focuses on other aspects. The next two sagas will have tons of fights, but this saga has a monster named Majin Buu and how he destroys cities while the warriors are forced to watch from a far.
It really is a pretty exciting saga. The first two DVD's have the strange emergence of the monster Buu and includes the most fighting in the saga. The end of the second DVD is unexpected and pretty amazing. After that, the rest of the five DVD's detail how Babidi and Majin Buu (and later this will actually change, but I won't spoil) are destroying the world while the warriors watch and prepare from a far.
It really makes the viewer wonder about the monster Majin Buu. This series makes him a sort of "weird" villain in the way he acts, not as one-sided as some of the previous villains and does a good job of making what will happen in the next two sagas make more sense. A great watch, it is very exciting. I highly reccommend it.

In this saga there are a lot of interesting things like goku goes to super sayian 3 and you can also watch the heros goten and trunks practice and fuse for the first time. Also you can watch majin vegeta battel majin buu and watch how babidi dies in the hands of his father's creation. It is the most interisting saga that i ever saw and had and i segest you all to bye it. Good Luck!!!!!!!!

DBZ's weakest story is still worth it., August 5, 2003

First of all, for those of you who don't know it, this is the Majin Buu Saga, but the MBS is only part 4 of the six-saga Majin Buu story. The whole story is about even in quality, but this saga is the main turning point.
The Majin Buu story is the last part of DBZ, before Toriyama retired. And one can tell he was already wearing himself thin. The Majin Buu Saga begins when the demon, Majin Buu is unleashed, and the Z Fighters must prepare themsleves for battle with him. Meanwhile Majin Buu goes around destroying the Earth.
Haven't we seen this somewhere before? Oh yes! Majin Buu is practically a clone of Cell! Going from one city to another, destroying everything, while the good guys try desperately to strengthen themselves. THis leads us to the many annoying flaws of the Majin Buu saga and whole story:
1) By the time Gotenks is ready to face Majin Buu at the end of the saga, Buu has already killed 2/3 of the Earth's population. Maybe Goku should ask himself, "these earthlings are such wusses! They run around panicking in the streets just before Buu kills them. You'd think after Cell and Frieza and Vegeta and Piccolo and all those villains, they'd've learned by now! Hm. Is it even worth the effort to save these idiots?" Seriously, after so many villains try to destroy the Earth, I figured the human population would be less stupid and scared.
2) Before the Majin Buu saga, we just all of a sudden hear of this Babidi guy who's trying to ressurect Buu. No connection to past villains (like Cell), no revelations of Goku's past (like Vegeta). Just some random demon we've never even heard of.
3) lesser flaws. It's been increasing since the Piccolo saga, but by now we hardly see any of those cool anthropomorphic animals that coexisted with humans back in Dragonball. Those guys were so cool! And what happened to Tien!? He was the second coolest Z Fighter after Vegeta, and he's missing! Good Grief!
Well, I have been brutal in exposing the saga's flaws, but it has it's bright side too. We do see a lot of character development, including a real noble turn for Vegeta. Plus, we get to see Goku fight Buu as a SS3; one of DBZ's best scene's. So, even though the story is wearing thin, we still see that our heroes haven't lost their shine. That would bring the saga up to 4 stars.
So why does it only get 3 stars? Because those cheapskates at Funimation released it as a 7-disc set! C'mon! The RR Army saga was released on 2 discs, so I imagine this saga could easily come in 3 or 4 discs. But I'll just wait patiently for that before buying this saga.
If you are new to DB or DBZ, don't start with this one. I'd recommend the King Piccolo, Piccolo Jr, Saiyan, or Namek Sagas. Those are definitely Dragonball's golden age. However, if you're a seasoned fan, by all means, go for this flawed, yet fun, saga. Or you could wait until Funimation release a 4 disc set. It's up to you.
