Great dvd. Worth the money.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dragon Ball Z - The Movie - Dead Zone (DVD)
As said in the title, I think this is a great DVD. If watching, i advise you to put the settings on Japanese with english subtitles. The dub voices and acting is horrible. Now, here is the review. The first of the 13 DBZ movies, Deadzone (Return My Gohan in japanese) Tells of Garlic Jr., and his struggle to take over the world. He starts by collecting the dragonballs to summon the dragon Shenron. He ends up kidnapping Son Gohan, the son of Chichi and Son Goku- The worlds strongest fighter, and Goku goes on a bit of a journey on his flying cloud kintoun to rescue him. After Garlic Jr gathers the dragonballs (right after a very interesting sequence where Gohan gets drunk off some apples) he wishes or immortality. To know the rest BUY THE DVD. Oh, and the extras are great for those sheltered from the japanese episodes (me ;_;). There are four clips that weren't shown on Dub Dragonball Z. 2 are from pisode one and two are most of episode 9 (only about 12% of episode nine was shown on Dub DBZ). But, just to sum everything up, buy the DVD. You shouldn't regret it but only in minor ways. I gave it a four because they could have done better with the subtitles. Kinda hard to read.

Dead Zone DVD,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dragon Ball Z - The Movie - Dead Zone (DVD)
I had already seen this movie on Cartoon Network, and being as how I'm a DBZ enthusiast I really wanted to own it. I really thought they did a good job on making the dubbed version, the sound effect and music sound much clearer, than the original Japanese version, even if they differ from time to time. Finally they added as extras, some original sense from DBZ the series, that had been edited from the American version. And they put some nice touches in to the menu, making it all the more enjoyable. The movie was really good too, but chances are if your going to buy this you have already seen it. But if you haven't seen this movie it is a really good classic DBZ movie, action with a side of comedy, and it sets up the story for the Garlic Jr. saga.

Dragonballz,

For being an American version, I would have to give this a very good rating. I recommand you get the jap. version of this (the english one is very edited and censored). Its pretty short but has lots and lots of action. Usually The only people who complain about this movie is the parents who use a tv as a babysitter. This video is ment for mature teens and up. Not a gift you'd like to give to a 9 year old kid on his birthday, but something to watch when you want your creative juices flowing. I can tell you this involves people gathering energy, martial arts combat, and an incredible plot. Just dont try to shoot your friends with an energy ball. The only thing I didn't like was that this movie is pretty short. The main enemy (Garlic Jr) is really cool, watch who beats him at the end.. you might just be devistated. The message I got out of this was.. becareful what you wish for.

Dead Zone is the funnest DBZ movie I have seen. Garlic Jr. has come to Gokus house to get a dragon ball from Gohan. Goku goes after Garlic Jr. to the dead zone. there is a fight. the bad guys are very funny. THeir moves are good to. I like this movie, and I wouldsay that if you like DBZ you should see this movie.

the ocean dub of dead zone,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dragon Ball Z - The Movie - Dead Zone (DVD)
The dvd contains both the original(ocean dubbed) or japenese(with english subs) versions on one uncut dvd. the movie itself is great, and the ocean dub english track is really good. but if you don't like it, you can watch it in japenese with english subs, or buy the funimation version.
the dvd contains some great bonus features such as character bios and a funny joke about namek DVD players. Although their are better versions for sound and picture, this is great for ocean dub fans. A must buy.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Dragon Ball Z - The Movie - Dead Zone (DVD)
this isn an awesome movie! i think that it is definetley worth your money! first of all it is actually a dragonball movie because it takes place years before dragonballz started. the plot is very good and is sort of a prequel to the series itself so if you see this the series will make a lot more sense thatn if you dont see it. its about a greedy evil demon that wants immortality to get revenge on the people who trapped his father away. it has a great musical score and great animation.i think this is my favorite movie so far....

The best of the best,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Dragon Ball Z - The Movie - Dead Zone [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Dead zone is the best english DBZ movies. This was the first, released in 1989, most people like this one the least. But, in my opinion is the best. One of the funniest too, it's cool to see how Gohan started out. It's the same old story, finding the dragonballs, but who cares? Listen, if you have a chance, make this you first choice.

DEAD ZONE,

First off get this Movie Uncut so you can see the cut part at the begining so you can understand it more and Pionneer keeps all the so called bad words or swearing and its not just the hell word either. Second I can't stand when people ask when the movie takes place in the the show. None of the movies take place anywhere in the episodes because they are not EPISODES they are MOVIES! The only movie that really goes with the episodes is movie 9. This is a great buy if its uncut and not taped from Toonami.

Great, Must-See Movie,

This review is from: Dragon Ball Z - The Movie - Dead Zone (DVD)
This movie was a success in the fact that it didn't contain the typical blow-by-blow cambat sequences. It portrayed realistic-on-the-edge action. The severe actions of a father doing what he can to get his kid-napped son back is shown in this movie. This is a must see for all Anime fans, both young and old.
