This is an excellent game.
It seems like every holiday just wouldn't be complete without a new Dragon Ball game release. Since these events seem to be occurring annually, I expected a few DB releases on pretty much every system for the 2008 holiday season. Though every release on the home console systems tend to be fighters, I was happy to see this land on the DS. I am not going to give this game a 5 star rating. But I must admit it comes pretty close. It has its minor kinks but the positives outweigh the negatives. First of all this is an action adventure game much in the vein of the previous Dragon Ball DS game and the Dragon Ball GT DS game. The difference here is that the game is seen from a ¾ overhead view in the exact same manner as the Zelda Phantom Hourglass DS game that was released not to long ago. The game is completely 3D and not a 2D side scroller. DG Origins has a few RPG elements in it but this game is mostly an action adventure game. The RPG elements are the excessive conversations that go on. But this is a full blown action adventure game and I am glad it is because I can't stand RPG's unless it's Zelda. There are also many animated sequences. Of course its not top notch animation as this is the DS were talking about after all. The great plus is that you can control Goku with either the control pad or the stylus, which to me is great because you get the best of both worlds. It's a shame that the Wii doesn't incorporate that feature into all of their games because the Wii Nunchuk is getting tedious & boring REAL FAST!!!! The game progresses exactly like the Dragon Ball series. You go from episode to episode in the exact same order as the comics/anime series, right from episode 1. Even the dialogue that happens on screen is word for word how it appears in the DB DVDs. I was a bit upset that there isn't any voice acting involved. Occasionally you'll hear Bulma speak 1 word, but that's about it. Also after you meet Bulma in stage 1 she follows you around. So it's nice to see two heroes on screen. I haven't gotten that far in the game yet but from other reviews it says you can control Bulma in a few stages. Overall I am very happy with this purchase. I am sure it will drop in price by ten dollars after the holiday season but I had to get this when it was released this week because I love Dragon Ball. I love DB even more now that the DVD Uncut box sets are released at such affordable prices. With the releases I was finally able to watch the show that swept across America to become an international phenomenon. It's also nice to see that there are still video game releases for a franchise that is over twenty years old. On a side note, I truly wish they made more DB action/adventure games on the Wii, PS3, or Xbox 360. All the games that land on the home consoles are fighters. Fighting games get pretty tedious and get boring real fast so it would be nice to see a DB Action adventure 2 player game hit the home systems some time soon. But the major plus side is that your favorite DB characters are now portable in your hand for a quick play on your way to work, a long train ride, or a vacation trip to another country. Pick this up even if you're not a DB fanatic because underneath the surface is a really is a great game.

This game is very accurate and easily one of the best Dragon Ball games ever. The combat is at first challenging, but is easy to master and you must use the stylus to fight, touching Goku at different time intervals to perform different combos. After collecting enough skill orbs (Purple orbs), you can upgrade Goku's moves to be more powerful, includind the Kamehameha, and other moves you learn as you continue through the game. Bulma will be with you on most of the levels and you can't let her die or game over, but she has weapons that she can use. THE STORYLINE- is very accurate (and uncut), tells the whole story up until the end of the tournament, not sparing any detail. They extend some things for extra levels, but other than that, incredible. The game is not too short and not too long ( but some levels are long!). The cutscenes are amazing and extremely well handled in 3D. I have to say it is one of the best Dragon Ball Games so far in Akira Toryama's famous series!! :)

I like this game. I got it only because it was Dragonball and not because the game play looked fun. One thing I hate about the game is there is not alot of imagination involved in the levels. They are all pretty much the same, a big long monotonous maze that gets very very old. Its the same thing over and over and over and over. The graphics were great, I love the different combos (and I usually hate games where you have to learn combos), controls are good, I like the scenes that play even though some kind of go on long. The storyline is not 100% accurate but its still pretty close. I really wish they could have made it a little more engaging, maybe bigger maps that were not mazes would of helped, and a little more free roaming sandbox kind of idea. Perhaps not having game levels like how they did in "Legacy of Goku" would of helped. Basically I would of liked to just play Legacy of Goku with these graphics and combo/skills lol. But as a fan of DB/Z I had to give it one extra star. So lets say its really 3 1/2 out of 5.

This game is very fun. Much like the game play of Zelda and the phantom hourglass, but certainly not a rip off of the game. There is a lot to do in each level, and you can return to each one when ever you want to improve your score. Overall it is a good buy.

You never know what to expect with "dragonball" and "drangonball z" name games. Usually they are just a pure fighting game with the crazy flash blast effects and the other status quo, but this game is a breath of fresh air in the dragonball world. This game has an amazing storyline that sticks incredibly close to the show's story. Oh the nostalgia! It has especially good humor just like the show. The game's controls are excellent and make good use of the ds control scheme even down to Goku's running. You also won't get bored using the same moves over and over again like those beat 'em up games, because the game has you learn some really interesting moves throughout the worlds slowly but surely, and you can level these moves up through experience.
Overall this game is excellent, if you are a dragonball or dragonball z fan this is a definite buy and this game is so good I even recommend it for non dbz fanatics.

I Just Got My DS Not Long Ago And This Seems So Advanced And In Depth Compared To The Other DBZ games etc.
I like the RPG Factor, I Think They Should Make A Game Like This To Follow Through With Each Saga, That Would Be Great From DB through DBZ through GT.

Pretty good game play. The graphics are very good. If you have watched the cartoon any so far its followed the storyline pretty close. Hours of game play. The bosses so far could have been alittle harder and alittle more interesting but overall I thought the game is pretty good. If you are looking for alot of challenge then this game may not be what you want but if you want easy to moderate its pretty nice.
