4.0 out of 5 stars Episodes 5, 6, and 7 are great!
These three episodes may not contain non-stop fighting, but there is still a lot going on in each of them. Still, there is plenty of combat in each episode.

3.0 out of 5 stars Acceptable, yet slow.
Though there isn't much fighting, this video really does let you get a feel for how evil the saiyans really are. It does a good job at setting the stage for later episodes

This review is from: Dragon Ball Z, Vol. 2 - Saiyan - The Saiyans (DVD)
These three episodes may not contain non-stop fighting, but there is still a lot going on in each of them. Still, there is plenty of combat in each episode.

The main theme in each of these episodes revolves around Gohan. In the beginning he is afraid of his own shadow. He encounters a few challenges, and as he overcomes each he becomes more and more bold. Not all of the situations come out in his favor, but even these are necessary for his 'training'.

Overall, I would say Volume 2 is pretty cool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Important Intro to Gohan and Saiyans, May 5, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Dragon Ball Z, Vol. 2 - Saiyan - The Saiyans (DVD)
These episodes are the ones in which the viewers fall in love with Gohan, the pint-sized boy with the heart of a lion, who makes Jake Lloyd in "Phantom Menace" look like a whining infant.

We also meet the Saiyans, whose unblinking evil nature are breathtakingly illustrated. These guys make the "Dark Jedi" from "Phantom Menace" look like prissy juvenile delinquents.

Very important intro to the DBZ world - follow this up with "Tree of Might", which should satisfy the fans rabid for more fighting scenes.

This DVD is not the best of the bunch, but it is still a needed part in the Dragonball Z saga. This video is more of a transition set, which shows the training of Gohan and the evilness of the Saiyans, Nappa and Vegeta. Although good, it is not the best in this series.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, May 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dragon Ball Z, Vol. 2 - Saiyan - The Saiyans (DVD)
If you're into the fighting scenes as I am you will be disappointed with this one. This one had three episodes and the last episode was the only one that contained any fight scenes. The fight scene was when Vegeta and Napa land on the planet Arlias. However, if you're a collector, this must be added to the your collection cos of the story factor.

1.0 out of 5 stars Yuk, October 27, 1999

This review is from: Dragon Ball Z, Vol. 2 - Saiyan - The Saiyans (DVD)
If this was uncut and has a subtitle version, it will be worth getting, but it doesn't. Just a poorly dubbed and massively cutted version of a great anime series. Very Disappointing
