Nicholas de Vere describes a race of beings, similar in many respects to J.R.R. Tolkien's Elves, who were priest kings and queens, ruling by virtue of their bloodline and genetics. They were educated and initiated into sacred knowledge of their origins and kept their bloodline pure by pharaonic marriage customs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Tough read, but worth it for the open-minded
If you can go in to it with an open mind, this book can be a wonderful read. It is a book which requires a thick skin at points, and definitely a willingness to listen (if not accept) some decidedly nonorthodox views on history, religion, sex, and other ideas. The reader who can go in to it with the right state of mind, though, could learn some interesting things. That...

5.0 out of 5 stars Recommended reading for christians, June 20, 2006
This review is from: The Dragon Legacy: The Secret History of an Ancient Bloodline (Paperback)
He considers his race as a sub species, with different DNA to the "masses" and this predisposes them to certain attributes, facilitating access to transcendent states of mind. Living in a symbiotic relationship with nature they ruled through a hierarchical system of defined and complementary roles.

He discusses the migration of his peoples from their homeland of Scythia, west into Europe. Using etymological analysis he provides fascinating evidence for the far reaching extent of Scythian influence in Europe and the UK and the source of common origin.

He outlines how the christian church manufactured its religion according to whatever information best served its agenda. The fraudulent Donation of Constantine, written well after the death of Emperor Constantine, empowered the church to appoint kings, thus usurping the right to rule through blood. They systematically eliminated those of the grail dynasty, such as the Merovingians and suppressed their heritage.
He also describes how the church manipulates people through its concept of primitive morality; accentuating polarities by making good synonymous with light, positive and male, and evil synonymous with dark, negative and female. Furthermore, it distanced religion from nature, branding nature as evil. The distancing of god from creation enabled its claim of ownership of the planet.

In addition, it created the concept of sin as a means of control, utilizing guilt against people to keep them compliant and ignorant.

The author gives a highly accurate summation of how people are addicted to the body chemistry of recycled emotions. They are confined by the propensity to think linearly and sequentially and the general entrapment of a mind lost in consumerism and socio-religious programming.

Those of the bloodline worked toward triumph over the personality in order to become an enlightened being. In addition, the author claims they performed specific rituals which utilised menstruum and female ejaculate which further enhanced their transcendent abilities. He insists that this practice maintains their state of being but its effectiveness is only felt by those of this specific DNA.

This is a fascinating book which draws from a wealth of ancient knowledge and was source material for some of Laurence Gardner's books.
Nicholas de Vere states that his race can evolve and reach enlightenment by virtue of their DNA and their traditional rituals. He claims that those not born into this DNA cannot evolve and thus he assumes that his tradition is the only way to reach transcendence.

People who are working towards self mastery are not the product of their endocrine system; their endocrine system is a product of their mind. Mind is always first and body follows mind
Anyone who engages enough will and determination can change and evolve, especially with the help of a master teacher.

If the average human was educated with the knowledge of the author then they would have a different perspective. Considering that we utilize less than 10% of our DNA, we all have the potential for enlightenment.

That said, in places the text is difficult. There is a lot of repetition and it isn't always easy to follow the author's thread, especially with the numerous names and linkages between them. This is a book which requires patience.

2.0 out of 5 stars College Thesis ???, April 14, 2007
This review is from: The Dragon Legacy: The Secret History of an Ancient Bloodline (Paperback)
I'm not sure what to say to help you decide if this book is for you or not. For me, the answer is NOT! At first glance, The Dragon Legacy appears as a book of non-fiction, but in reality it is FICTION. Being that it is fiction, I would expect some drama or adventure, something to sustain a person while they read through it. But alas, that is not the case. I also don't see what anything in this book has to do with the Holy Grail OR the Dragon Bloodlines; which are the reasons I purchased this book in the first place. I feel like I wasted my money because I didn't get any answers I was looking for.

Nicholas de Vere or Prince Nicholas de Vere as he claims is his real name, writes this story in college thesis format. On that point, it is written very well. However, this isn't a story to me.

This whole book was very disappointing for me. As I have heard stories of the dragon bloodlines since I was a little child and as an adult have been eagerly looking for evidence that relates to the stories. What I do know is that there is definately more than one blood line! Mr. Vere claims there is but one bloodline... and spends the book trying to prove that the bloodline is related to Jesus, the M Kings, the Eygptians, the Druids, the Elves, the Fairies, and of course himself... It's all just a little to off the wall for me.

Well, that's my 2 Cents... it's only my opinion, I'm the first to admit that it doesn't make me right...

4.0 out of 5 stars Many Hidden Treasures, August 26, 2004
This review is from: The Dragon Legacy: The Secret History of an Ancient Bloodline (Paperback)
What can I say? There is a lot in this book that feels like it was written to offend. Christians and Wiccans might be especially offended. But for all the bile the author pours out at various points in the book, there are some true gems of lore tucked away here. Those with eyes to see will find rich pickings between the lines of this book. If you enjoy the works of Fries, Pennick, Chumbley and Jackson, you will love this one too. If you're looking for justification for Goth clothes and a blood fixation, you'll probably love it too, for all the wrong reasons.

5.0 out of 5 stars the Elven Legacy, August 11, 2009

this book is surely not for everyone...
dear faerie kind,
... but for those who love faerie lore and would to know of the true history of Elven Kind, this is a great book. It is not an entirely easy read. Nor will you necessarily agree with all the author says and you may doubt some of his research. However, it is still worthwhile to examine and brings to reality a culture that most consider merely mythical or fantasy. You may need to read it with a few grains of salt, perhaps ever a salt shaker. Still for us it was a wonderful reminder that there were cultures all over the world that have been wiped out, merged and otherwise brought to a place where people wonder if they ever existed. Will this be the case with most Native American tribes some day? African tribes? It's what happened to our elven ancestors, as this book demonstrates.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating...... but really?, February 9, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Dragon Legacy: The Secret History of an Ancient Bloodline (Paperback)
As other reviewers have alluded, this book is not a simple read. However, it is worth making the effort. There are plenty of juicy tidbits here to titillate the truth seeker...but the author's overall premise suffers from his delusions. Essentially, humanity is a seething mass of ignorant, selfish, barbaric weaklings. Yet there exists among us a parallel race, born of the dragon bloodline, who are biologically, intellectually and genetically our superiors. These were ancient kings of the glorious past, and the mythological gods and goddesses of the golden era. But over time they were usurped by tyrannical humans, and the world is the mess it is today because the dragons are still in exile. Needless to say, the author himself is one of the dragons. One day they will return and put the world to rights.

It's a popular thesis that human DNA was tampered with in the past by extra-terrestrials, inter-dimensionals, or fallen angels - they may all be the same thing - but the author turns convention on its head by implying that this was a good thing. He certainly feels that his ancestors benefited from it, and is apparently bitter that he has not. That is the bottom line here. It's sour grapes wrapped up in esoteric lore and justifications of the absurd. If you suspect that vampires and elves have gotten a bad rap then you're gonna love this book. Put it this way, I'm sure that Alister Crowley is more scintillating dinner conversation than Mother Theresa, but that's all he is.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not my cup of tea... but well written., May 21, 2007
This review is from: The Dragon Legacy: The Secret History of an Ancient Bloodline (Paperback)
I'm not quite sure what to say here. I bought this book because I thought it would compliment another book I've read about the dragon legacies. In this I thought this book was fiction and that it would be entertaining. After, getting about halfway through it, I have decided it is not the book for me. The author writes as though this is non-fiction and in my opinion is more of a historical version of the dragon history. If you're looking for FACTS then you probably want to check this out, and decide for yourself if you agree with the author. If you are looking for drama or an enticing story line then this is not the book for you.

4-stars because it is very well written. The author definately put a lot of time into this book.

Read this book. There isn't enough I can say so I'll error on the side of saying too little. This book is excellent, DeVere is masterful. Read it, you'll be glad you did.

Disappointing

The guy is living in a fantasy land - he is about as 'evolved' as a dry fart

Inaccurate and written for shock value. It is not that what he writes is that far out, it's just that he has no idea about the House del Aqus and the Dragon Queens
