2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, but may be from over-anticipation., July 17, 2008

This review is from: Dragon Lords (Andrakis, Book Three) (Mass Market Paperback)
"The Great City is besieged. Mareg Dru'artha Sutnavanistra, Dragon Lord, has sent his vast armies - and his dragons - against the Kingdom. The young Guardian Andra is now King. Only he can wield Abreotan's dragon-slaying sword. But will a magical sword and an ancient prophecy be enough to defeat the Dragon Lord?

The powerful wizard A Ahmud Ki plots to claim his own inheritance: the elusive Fifth Ki of magic - and the secrets of the Dragon Lords. Andra needs his help against Mareg - but can the wizard be trusted?

In this, the third volume of the Andrakis trilogy, the final battle is played out between the legacies of the past, and Andra much confront not just a Dragon Lord, but the future of magic itself."

Given another title for its US release (The Dragonlord War), this book was rather disappointing after the first two. I'm all for happy endings, but I can live without them if the ending is good enough. This one wasn't. The ending seemed to make everything that happened in the first books moot, and no one likes to think they're wasting their time. Sad, because the first two books were very enjoyable. I'll have to reread this series soon to see if I get the same impression without so much anticipation (I couldn't find a copy of this until years after reading the first two) muddying the waters.
