5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the Dragon Princes, July 8, 2006

This review is from: Dragon Lords: The Warrior Prince (Book 4) (Paperback)
The four princes of Qurilixian will meet and choose their life mate. Book four is about Prince Zoran "The Commander". His planet is male dominated and they must seek elsewhere for mates...Pia is running away from a possible execution. She is an assassin and ended up killing the Mayor's son. You will fall in love with this prince also. After reading these stories (The Barbarian Prince, The Perfect Prince, The Dark Prince and The Warrior Prince) read the Var series they are great. The great thing about Ms. Pillow is that you get to know and to love many characters and then you start wondering if she is going to make a new story about them. For example, after reading The Warrior Prince and The Savage King (Var King) I wondered if the author is going to making a book about the Var king's heir marrying Zoran's daughter. This last should be very interesting to read "a dragon and a feline."

5.0 out of 5 stars Book 4 of the Dragon Princes, February 22, 2007
This review is from: Dragon Lords: The Warrior Prince (Book 4) (Paperback)
The princes of Qurilixian will meet and choose their life mate. This is the story of Zoran and Pia. Pia, who is running away from a possible execution, and is physically scarred from a childhood act of betrayal joins the Galaxy Brides. The Galaxy Brides have promised to give her a new face. They remove all traces of the scars and she goes to Qurilixian as one of the brides. Zoran's crystal chooses her and in a simplistic ceremony involving the removing of masks and the crushing of crystals they are wed. Once bonded Zoran will never let her go. Pia feels her husband is the most handsome of the four princes. Zoran is a man who knows what he wants,; and he wants Pia. He is the captain of the guard and used to getting what he wants. When his wife, the one person who should obey him, refuses to, he realizes the fight for his heart's desire will be the toughest. Zoran and Pia's story is full of humor and hot love scenes. It will leave you craving for more. If you liked the Dragon Lords, read the Var Princes series. It is the story of the "enemies" of the Dragon Lords and is just as hot.

5.0 out of 5 stars The last of the Draig Princes yet another great read!, June 28, 2008
By
This review is from: Dragon Lords: The Warrior Prince (Book 4) (Paperback)
Dragon Lords: The Warrior Prince (Book 4)

A story about the 4th prince of the Draig. This prince is also looking for love and finds it by forcing Pia, a girl who is running and thinks she is ugly and running from a murder, therefore has a body/face transformation that makes her yet more beautiful.

The princes have a way about seducing and he definitely puts it to Pia. She resists thinking that he could not really find her irresistable. After many, many things happening on the planet, they both come to realize they were made for each other. There are also plenty of hot, sexy scenes.

This book is a perfect ending to the Draig series. But there is more to learn in the next series, Lords of the Var--keep reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars disappointing, December 12, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
gosh, i was disappointed with this final DragonLords saga. It has the elements of the previous tales: fantasy sci-fi, humor and heat, internal conflict, storyline trickery. Barbarian, Dark and Perfect Prince all similarily fun--yet different.

Here, Pia Korben is the ugly duckling turned beautiful swan. Except the swan is a feisty, kicking, combat boot wearing terror to her fated prince. Pia and Prince Zoran spar physically and emotionally. Their personalities are brash, and when they clash it's firy. In spite of the heat, there's always a hidden sadness/bitter sweetness to each story. When the curtain is finally pulled back for Pia, all i can say is--Wow.
I wish there were a few more DragonLord stories. So disappointed it's ended.

(note--there are more detailed reviews attached to the earlier pbk edition.)

3.0 out of 5 stars A fairly good book, March 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Pia is a woman with a rather shady past. Being at the wrong place at the wrong time puts her on a wanted list. Because much of her body was burned in a terrifying incident years before, it is difficult to hide her identity. With no medical insurance or money, she can't afford an operation to fix her scars so no one can recognize her. This means only one choice, put her fate in the hands of Galaxy Brides who will restore her skin to the healthy state it had once been. As no one knows what she looked like before, this is the best option. The only catch is she must marry the first man who choses her. That is the only way Galaxy Brides will agree to providing the surgeries. Pia decides it is worth it, though she believes her restored looks are only a slight improvement to how she appeared before.

When Zoran, a prince of the Draig people on the planet Qurilixen, first sees Pia, he is enamored. He knows right away she is the one for him. The problem is Pia has a low self esteem after years of people shuddering in revulsion at her disfigured looks. It doesn't matter that she is healed. Pia is convinced that such a good looking man as Zoran must be joking when he offers marriage. Despite her contract, she resists mating with him. He does not understand her reluctance and forces her into marriage anyway. Their relationship begins on a difficult footing that only becomes worse as outside dangers threaten not only the newly married couple, but Zoran's people as well. It will take their mutual cooperation in order to deal with the threat, but learning to trust each other will be the first step as they both have secrets they're not willing to reveal.

I did not realize the Warrior Prince was part of a series when I purchased it. Despite the fact it is the fourth book, I had no problems following along. There are references to the previous novels, but it easily stands alone. The story line is good and I thought the plot was fairly well thought out. The side characters provided some entertainment which I enjoyed. My problems were with the main character's dialog and actions. They just didn't seem realistic enough for me. Some of the things they did or said just didn't fit their profile. I also got a bit tired of Pia's angst over her looks. It is understandable that someone who had lived with disfigurement for years would have some emotional issues to deal with. Yet after she was completely healed (except one scar she chose to keep), Pia continued to believe she was ugly no matter how many others said to the contrary. Her background should have made her a more confident woman, and in most aspects it did, but she had serious hangups when it came to believing any man could be attracted to her. It went above and beyond the norm.

If not for these few of problems, I would rate this novel even higher as it showed true promise. Despite my complaints on this book, the author intrigued me with her other characters and I will most likely read more of the series. For those considering reading The Warrior Prince, know that it isn't bad, I just have my own preferences with how the characters should have been played out. It was worth reading, just not the best I have seen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story, not read!!!, April 29, 2010
This review is from: Dragon Lords: The Warrior Prince (Book 4) (Paperback)
This is the fourth book in The Dragon Lords series. This story concentrates on Prince Zoran, captain of the Draig guards, and Pia, his chosen soul mate.

Pia needs to hide. Scared in her youth, and having just killed an important man, she needs to disappear in a hurry. She signs up with Galaxy Brides, promising to stay with them until she gets married in return for a complete make over on her body to hide the scars she has carried for years. Little does she realise that the first planet she lands on, she is chosen by one of the most handsomest men she has ever seen, and further more, she later finds out that he is a prince.

Zoran cannot keep his eyes off her and as his crystal glows he knows that he has been lucky to find his soul mate. Used to commanding soldiers, he is surprised to find that his chosen mate has a mind of her own, and she will not be commanded. The battle for her heart is a fierce one, fiercer than any other battle he has fought, the trouble is, who will be the conqueror and who will be conquered.

This reviewer has been waiting eagerly for this, the fourth book in the series and the last story of the Princes. It was not a disappointment. A faced pace tale, basically the same plot as the other three, but told from a different view point, The Warrior Prince adds to the whole concept and the reader learns new details about the wonderful world Ms Pillow has created.

Pia is a kick ass heroine who stands for no nonsense. With some heavy issues herself, and with Zoran's alpha macho attitude, misconceptions and misunderstandings abound. The dialogue is snappy and entertaining and the reader will be rooting and tooting for them both as the rocky road to true love is strewn with boulders. Sexual tension is very high and the sex scenes are both erotically passionate and romantic. Zoran, the big, strong, handsome Draig warrior certainly has his hands full with Pia. Ms Pillow has certainly delivered an action packed story full with emotion and romance. A wonderful read, this reviewer highly recommends this entertaining story. Fans of this series will certainly be satisfied with Book 4 of The Dragon Lords.

3.0 out of 5 stars Shoot! This could have been so much better!, December 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Warning: Spoilers in this review

I appreciate that the author has to retell the same events from previous books in the series, but felt some of the writing on the common events was too cut and paste. I really thought this book could have been 4-5 star with the heroine having an assassin background, but sheesh, she's not written as a particularly good one. I mean come on, granted she can't best her prince by strength, but surely in some type of combat she could beat him. I wanted to read more about how her beauty stunned others and not just her husband. I was okay with the typical virginal status thing for this character, but her ignorance of all things feminine just made her seem stupid which was really disappointing as she started out strong and quickly became brainless/helpless.

And then there was the overly sappy epilogue with all the wives delivering at the same time. So sad, this really started off strong, and could have been great.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't start with this one first!, November 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is not the best book to start the series. IMO - Pia is so unlikable I can't imagine what Zoran sees in her. Her tragic past is not compelling and there was glossing over of a main point to her character that was useless. To be charmed by this series I would suggest to start with a different book first, this was my first for the series. Not sure I'll try the others because I seriously could not care for Pia. Despite her "issues", she was so irritating I couldn't find little enjoyment from her character in the book. The support characters were done well.
