A very nice resource, July 28, 2006
This review is from: Dragon Magazine, Issue 58 (Paperback)
Dragon Magazine has been a great resource for those who play TSR's Dungeons & Dragons, and other games, since it premiered in 1976. Issue #58 came out in February 1982 (when AD&D was still in its 1st edition), and while it does not have an overarching theme it does contain quite a few interesting articles. Among the articles are:
Leomund's Tiny Hut: Beefing up the Cleric - some interesting new spells for the cleric.
Four Myths From Greece - Which has four Non-Player Characters from Greek mythology - Atalanta, Daedalus, the Sybil of Cumae, and Chiron.
The Dwarven Point of View - An article that gives the reader an excellent understand of what their dwarven character would really be like, what they would think and why.
Bazaar of the Bizarre has two dwarven magical items, while Sage Advice answers a number of questions on dwarves.
The Gods of the Dwarves is an interesting article that discusses dwarven pantheons, has an undead dwarf monster (the Rapper), and details five dwarven deities.
In The Bag - a work of fiction by J. Eric Holmes. When Boinger, an enterprising Halfling thief, is given the chance to use a magical sack that will hold quite literally anything, he sees a lot of opportunities. However, there's more to this sack than meets the eye!
Overall, I found this to be a very good issue, with lots of goodies in it. In particular I liked the dwarf articles and the short story. So, if you play 1st edition AD&D, then this is a very nice resource for you to get.
