As a werewolf, Talon is no stranger to secrets, and he can sense that the psychic Kenna is keeping something from him. But Talon is powerfully drawn to the mysterious stranger, and the urge to claim her is just as strong as the instinct to keep himself guarded. With impossible secrets keeping them apart and the threat from the other world drawing near, their fate hangs in the balance— unless they can learn to trust each other.

The first of her Berkley Sensation paranormal romantic suspense novels, KILLING MOON, was published in June 2003; EDGE OF THE MOON followed in August 2003 and WITCHING MOON in October 2003. KILLING MOON and EDGE OF THE MOON were launch books for the Berkley Sensation imprint.

She writes the popular 43 Light Street series for Harlequin Intrigue. Over 30 Light Street Intrigues have been published. NOWHERE MAN was called "one of the most heart-wrenching, moving works of romantic suspense in several years," by reviewer Harriet Klausner.

Ruth's many awards include two Rita finalist books. She has two Career Achievement awards from Romantic Times: for Series Romantic Suspense and Series Romantic Mystery. NOWHERE MAN was the Romantic Times Best Intrigue of 1998, and the book has been selected as one of their Reviewers' "all-time favorite 400 romances." In addition, she received the 1998 Affaire de Coeur's Critics Choice Award for Best Contemporary Novel, also for NOWHERE MAN. Several of Ruth's Moon books (WITCHING MOON, SHADOW OF THE MOON, and NEW MOON) have been on the USA Today best-seller list.

Ruth and her husband travel frequently to research settings for novels and taste new dishes for cookbooks. Her many unique experiences are apt to end up in her books--like the time she encountered a coral snake in the Guatemalan jungle or took a flight in a hot air balloon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous addition to Rebecca York's werewolf series & already one of my favorites., October 6, 2009

Dragon Moon (The Moon Series, Book 9) by Rebecca York
Paranormal Romance- Oct. 6, 2009
4 ½ stars

This was an outstanding story from start to finish. I could not put it down. Rebecca York is breaking into her stride with the 9th book in her werewolf series. I feel this book can be read alone but would probably be richer and easier from having read her previous books since characters from her previous books reappear.

Kenna is from an alternate universe where magic is common place. Her future appears bright until she is taken to live as a slave by the ruthless and evil Vandar. Vandar is a shape shifting dragon who drinks blood to live. Vandar is ruthless and demands absolute obedience. Although he does not need human blood to survive he thrives on draining his human servants and keeping them in fear and servitude. His power is absolute but now he has discovered a portal to a new world that is lush with riches. And a place where magic is virtually unknown. This vunerable new world is called earth. Vandar has sent men to scout for the details he needs before he attacks and plans to increase his empire but the men have returned useless for his needs. As an alternate Vandar decides to send a beautiful woman and chooses his slave Kenna. Surely with her beauty she will have an easier time seducing men and infiltrating information from the alternate universe he plans to conquer. To ensure her compliance Vandar places strong and painful mind blocks on Kenna to prevent her from escaping and telling earthlings of his mission to conquer earth.

After training to learn about earth Kenna is thrust across the portal and immediately falls into danger when a tree falls on her during a storm. She is befriended by a wolf who mysteriously disappears. Desperate, Kenna tries to use her powers to lift the tree off her but fortunately a human man comes to her aid.

Kenna discovers the mysterious man's name is Talon. The 2 find a mutual attraction but Talon feels Kenna is holding something back and although he hides a secret about himself (being a werewolf) he knows he can't trust Kenna unless she reveals the strange `gaps' in her memory. Kenna loves how kindly Talon treats her especially after her brutal life under Vandar's rule. She tries to break through her conditioning but cannot tell Talon her mission as a spy.

But even as their relationship stand at an impasse the dangerous Vandar is growing impatient and trouble looms for the 2.

This was a fascinating story that flew by quickly. The villain was completely evil. The heroine courageous, beautiful and valiant. And the alpha hero understanding and protective. This story was quite complex and I was amazed by the Rebecca York's facile storytelling skills. My favorite sections included the relationship between Talon and Kenna. They were clearly meant for each other. However, I found Kenna's courage the most captivating section of the novel. When she is confronted by an alien world she uses what skills she has to survive and her conscience and courage carry the story. This was a fabulous addition to Rebecca York's werewolf series and already one of my favorites. If you love werewolf romances this one is a must read. Rebecca York really heightened the stakes in her latest installment and I eagerly await details of her next book. I hope it will include the wounded dragon shifter Raymond!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Test of Trust for the Sake of Our World, October 6, 2009
This review is from: Dragon Moon (The Moon Series, Book 9) (Mass Market Paperback)
Length:: 1:33 Mins

Kenna, a mysterious psychic visitor from another universe, is slave to a terrible master, and she has come to prepare for an invasion the likes of which our universe has never seen. In Talon Marshall, a powerful werewolf, Kenna finds a potential confidant, but she is unable to reveal to him the terrible secret that is her mission. Talon is powerfully drawn to this stranger, but his senses tell him to keep up his guard before he grows to close. He longs to possess her; she longs for his help, but can they learn to trust each other? Can she find a way to communicate her grave message to him before our world and the universe itself is doomed to ruin?
Dragon Moon, the latest installment in Rebecca York's extensive paranormal romance set known as the "Moon Series," tells the tale of Kenna and Talon as they are caught in a struggle for cooperation and reliance upon each other for the sake of our world. The novel, as well as the entire series, incorporates many different elements of the paranormal into the craft of the story: from werewolves to shapeshifters, your desire for the strange and otherworldly will definitely be satisfied by what York has to offer with her new work. York's fascination with werewolves stems from her reading of classic werewolf stories as a teenager, and, although the series began as "Urban Fantasy," York's series has evolved over time to involve a parellel dimension where the paranormal reigns supreme. In Dragon Moon, these two universes, ours and the parallel, are at odds. Now, only an incredible pair of beings can hope to stop the total annihilation of all that we know, but first a trust must be established between them. At the center of this dimensional conflict, there exists the striving between two people for a meaningful connection and a struggle to convey well-kept secrets. This is a major part of the power behind York's most recent romance.
This intriguing and seductive novel will be well-received by fans of York's past efforts in the paranormal genre. Dragon Moon is an ideal selection for faithful readers of her "Moon Series," but general readers of fantasy romance and the paranormal are liable to appreciate this exciting story of passion and hidden intentions. Enter into York's fantasy realm and become a part of the fight for our universe.

5.0 out of 5 stars refreshing romantic fantasy, October 10, 2009
This review is from: Dragon Moon (The Moon Series, Book 9) (Mass Market Paperback)
Kenna the psychic crosses through a hidden portal into earth on a mission to obtain information for her owner. During a vicious storm, a soaking wet Kenna is almost killed by a tree that falls. Werewolf Talon Marshall who prefers to be alone finds her in his lupine form, but saves her in his human body.

They are attracted to one another and he fears she is his soulmate; someone the recluse can do without but knows he cannot. Kenna wants to tell him the truth about what she knows re her master Vandar the psychopathic half-dragon half-vampire, but a mental barrier will not allow her to so. He knows she hides something important from him, but has no earthly idea what; only that he does not trust her and obviously she reciprocates as she distrusts him with her secret

The latest Moon romantic fantasy displays the creativity of Rebecca York as she refreshes her werewolf-life mate plot with the enslavement spell that leaves the hero distrusting his beloved and the heroine frustrated with her inability to tell her beloved the truth. The story line is fast-paced from the opening scene in vile villain Vandar's cave and never slows down as love comes at the wrong time for this couple. Series fans will relish DRAGON MOON with a strong casting as the malevolent paranormal hybrid controls the werewolf's life mate.
