I'll put it simply: Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 is the cat's meow, the dog's bark, and my new best communication friend. It has so many tools I've yet to uncover them all! For starters, I simply used it to rwrite directly into Microsoft Word and I transcribed six double-spaced papges in under ten minutes. It took me less than 30 minutes to get my voice profile understood, but it will probably take me weeks to unearth all the neat things Dragon will do. I highly recommend it for the typing illiterate.

I purchased this for my daughter who is a college student. The concept is great but there were a lot of troubleshooting that took place initially. She has Vista on her laptop and it would not completely load. After hours of frustration, she contacted the manufacturer and downloaded it onto her netbook instead as this had Windows 7 and the software has trouble with Vista. She had a lot of trouble with voice recognition and difficulty with the headset, so we when to a local software store and was instructed to purchase another headset/microphone combination but ended up not working satisfactorily either. Had to return it and purchased a microphone instead which finally did work. Unfortunately this too way too long to work out the bugs and she was pressed for time. The product works fine once you work out all the bugs. She is still having issues with her voice recognition but at least she has all summer to work on this so hopefully next semester will be smooth sailing. Make sure you have ample time to load and test before actually needing the product. A friend of mine had the same issues (unfortunately not telling this ahead of time) but finally the product works great!

I bought the Naturally Speaking 10.1 Preferred in Spanish. I love this product and am amazed at its accuracy. I was so impressed, in fact, that the same day that I installed the software I called Nuance and after two conversations (one phone, one chat) with one sales representative, I bought the English version with express shipping. The shipping took less than 24 hours, but to my surprise, the English software did not install properly and after repeated tries, I called technical support at Nuance, the company that sells the Dragon software. It turns out that the Spanish version ALREADY HAS ENGLISH on it. The sales rep must have counseled me to buy a useless second product because she didn't know that the Spanish version already had what I needed (?). At any rate, it took almost an hour on the phone for me to realize the problem and then attempt to navigate the technical support and customer service circuits. Finally, I was told by an incredibly irritating customer service manager named Hans that the problem was my responsibility and that I needed to ship the product back at my expense. So...please learn a lesson from my wasted morning. If you buy the Spanish software, call it a day. In sum: fabulous product, infuriating sales team behind the product.
