5.0 out of 5 stars Great Ending Filled With Action & Adventure! May 27, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This third book in the series Dragon Ore (The Dawning of Power) is even better than the first book! There is a lot of adventure, a lot of action, dragons, danger, powers, fighting against the evil and trying to save all mankind. The journey is a long one... from Greatland to Firstland... escaping from enemies and making friends... the Herald's powers grow. She spent time learning to use her powers... now she is coming into full bloom as The Herald... making wiser choices.

The Herald ends up back where she started, in her homeland... working toward a future that will save her people from future disasters.

A very satisfying book and a great trilogy. I would say these books are more for young adults... but as a much older person who has been addicted to science fiction since my youngest reading years... I will say I enjoyed this trilogy very much.

If you wish... there is an offer of all three books in one on the Kindle store... The Dawning of Power (The World of Godsland)

Either way... buying one at a time... or the combined trilogy... it's a great read. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Dragon Ore (The Dawning of Power) May 26, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the last of the trilogy and a wonderful finish, that leaves room for another sequel. This book is full of adventure, wonderful, rich character building, and just an all round good read. The young heros all learn life skills as well as professions in their quest. In times when I need a great story to read to cheer me up and make me feel like the world is more than it seems, this will be the trilogy I will re-read. I love the author's philosophical introductions to the chapters. Wonderful series to give as a gift to a young girl or boy.

5.0 out of 5 stars #3 of an excellent series February 24, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It's not often that books of this quality are free or nearly free. This is the third book of a series, and it is just as good as the first two. The characters have changed somewhat, but Catrin is still the main character that the story evolves around. Her quest in the first two books continues, she is trying to find peace among the nations of the world. She has now turned 18 and her powers have grown, but she doesn't understand why she has been picked to complete this daunting task, she is always unsure of herself, she is frail, and doesn't feel as strong as she really is. She is loved, feared, and hated by the nations of the world. Catrin is fulfilling the ancient prophesy of the coming of the Herald, which is Catrin. In her travels, over land, seas, and the desert she meets new people and new dangers. All of the places she travels are a threat to her, and her guardians lives. There are more strange creatures, that seem to be waiting around every corner, many are enemies that turn into friends. Catrin tries to show them that all citizens of the lands are alike, while the greatest evil is waiting for a confrontation with her.
The very exciting story is well written, as are the first two, Brian Rathbone does another excellent effort in the telling the of story, it pulls you in. An excellent read for anyone liking adventure, action, suspense, fantasy mixed with a little off the supernatural. Very entertaining

4.0 out of 5 stars So-so end to the trilogy but still a good book December 27, 2011
By Erin
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A bit less exciting than the first two books, this was still an enjoyable read. There was one particular end result which won't surprise anyone, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. A little bit of predictability doesn't ruin a book. In the end I would have liked more excitement/adventure but the plot still kept me interested.

5.0 out of 5 stars Godsland Series, Love it! March 4, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you like books with magic, and suspense, this is a good series. I would rate this series as good as Harry Potter but your lead character is a girl named Catrin. The writer writes in a way that makes this series easy to read. If you read a lot, you know what I am talking about.

More About the Author

As a teen, Brian Rathbone had a hunger for Young Adult Fantasy and Epic Fantasy that could not be satisfied. He would hide out in his secret reading place for weeks and perch on his choice of straw bale thrones. It was a spiritual and sometimes emotional journey filled with thieves, wizards and dragons.

Years later, he channeled that passion to create The World of Godsland YA fantasy series, which also includes multiple free young adult books. Call of the Herald, the series starter, is one such Kindle freebie.

Rathbone gives away many of his Young Adult books for free in order to let readers sample his work at no risk to them and so those without a large reading budget can enjoy an epic adventure.

Brian's books are inspired by many of his favorite tales from JRR Tolkien, CS Lewis, JK Rowling and George R R Martin. His journey as an independent author has largely been influenced by writers like Joseph Lallo, Scott Sigler, MR Mathias, Jeff Wheeler and Nathan Lowell.
