This serie swaps Robert Jordan's WoT into the mud. This is fantasy at its very best. No doubt about it. A must!

One summer I went to the library to find a different type of book to read. On a shelf in a little, forgotten place, I saw a title that grabbed my attention because I love dragon stuff. It was called Dragon Prince. I picked up that book and didn't put it down until I finished it. Then I went back and read it again. When I found out that there was more to the series, I was very excited. It was one of the most captivating, interesting and spellbounding series that I have ever read. I couldn't put them down! When I went back a few months later to find them and read them again, they weren't there. I haven't been able to get hold or even see a copy since then. I have read a lot of books and these, by far, are some of the best.

I am not even done with the first book in the series and have already decided that Melanie Rawn is my favorite author and this is the greatest series ever written. If you doubt your purchase, think again. If you like fantasy, this is the king. You'll love it.

I piced up the first and second books of this series used at a local book/music store. I really never had much intention to read them, especially after being turned off by the first 2-3 pages. But when I ran out of other reading material, I picked The Dragon Prince up and by chapter 2 was completly there. Currently my favorite books, I would recommend them to anybody who has even a remote intrest in fantasy. I have never been so drawn to and repelled by charictors before. Everything is real to me. I was pleasently suprised, and I think you will be as well.

So few times has a book taken us to another place, that when it happens it seems stick with you for the rest of your life. This has been the case with myself. The imagery so touches you that when you recall the book, you feel as if it where one of your memories. I first read the original trilogy in 1988, first intreged by the title, and still haven't forgotten every event in each of the 6 books since. The books open by introducing you to the characters and the events that shape their lives in the unique way that Melanie Rawn has made her trademark. She pulls you into their world as if it were your own. There is a balanced feeling of your emotions throughout each of the books; joy, fear, anger, and sadness but it is the freedom found in many places that will spellbound you. Add a large dose of magic, war, love, character depth and you have "The Dragon Prince" and "Dragon Star" trilogies each with the same characters you will come to love.

Even though I'm in the middle of the second book the series is the best! She gets your atension very rapidly in these books. She describes the caracters, setting,and every other detail vivedly. She is the next Anne McCaffery. I urge everyone that has the chance to read this book, to read it. It will capture you from the very begining. The best books with the most action, and romance I've read!

I have read countless science fiction and fantasy novels by dozens of authors, and these three books are undoubtedly the best. I have never encountered such strong characters that reach out and touch you like these have. The plot of all three novels in this series is excellent as well but does not override the delicate frame work of character relationships. I have read this series many times and will read it again.

This series grabs you from the beginning with such a descriptive and wonderful world of dragons, magic, love and tragedy. She makes you love and understand what each person is feeling with her exquisite detail of the human characters. Her magic is believably real in a world ruled by princes. She captures your imagination and makes you see this grand world. She is also a master of the sublime, for details, which she so casually places (which at first glance appear as filler) in the first book, are carried through to completion in the sixth book. The interwoven lives and history are fantastic; I have read this series 7 times now and continue to find new and wonderful things.

I unwillingly read the first book because my friend suggested that I do so. I was surprised. Melanie Rawn is a masterful writer. I love following the lives of the characters. I cry when they cry, laugh when they laugh...there are even times when I feel their bloodthirsty revenge! I strongly urge everyone to read the series and all of the rest of her books. Rawn is the next Anne McCaffrey.

Even though I just started reading Dragon Prince, I already am enjoying it! I like a book that catches my attention right off the bat. Dragon Prince has been very interesting so far and I can't wait to see what comes next!
