Book Description

3.0 out of 5 stars Not so great for a French native speaker! September 11, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
My 6 year old son loves dragons, so when I found this book & saw pretty good reviews, I jumped on it! I am French and speak French to my children. I am quite disappointed with this book. The story line is good, but the writing is not good enough for a native speaker. There are many grammatical errors and the way it is written really feels like it is translated from English. I guess my son doesn't know the difference, but it feels wrong to me to read a book with mistakes. Now, I know I should only order French books on or!

4.0 out of 5 stars great little french book May 17, 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book was given to my daughter for Easter. She is a college French major and she decides which books she likes to add to her collection. As a future teacher of French (hopefully) she found this book to meet her criteria. She loved the fact that at the end of the book you can write to the characters in the book. My college girl, of course wrote her letter in French. The reader is suppose to receive a response from the character. We are hoping that the return letter will be in French. If so......what a great teaching tool

1.0 out of 5 stars Improper grammar everywhere, low quality July 16, 2014
I agree that the grammar is terrible. This book was not edited properly and the quality of the book itself is quite low. I got a refund because I don't want a book with improper grammar. That's ridiculous. This book should not be sold by anyone until it has been revised. Sorry!

2.0 out of 5 stars grammar erors April 11, 2014
I am a french native and also a french teacher.
I didn't buy this book but I looked inside. There are a lot of sentences and grammar errors.
The writing is too small for children.
I am disappointed, the story seems very attractive for 7-8 years old.

I am learning French and this book is really good for beginners. Even the story is quite entertaining. I guess for children it's perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Parfait pour moi May 24, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm trying to learn French, and this was perfect for what I wanted. It was easy enough I could read it without constantly looking up words or puzzling out grammar, and it just plain made me grin. There's nothing like a delightful children's book for an adult who has a good excuse (like learning a language).

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Age Appropriate for small children learning French October 9, 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book is not age appropriate for my boys. If Amazon had shown the print on the pages, I would have been able to make that assessment before buying it.

This book is for children who are proficient in French, and have been reading it for several years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dragon and Marshmallows - pafaitement agreeable September 19, 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
My goodness, my daughter and I could not put this book down even though it is quite lengthy for bedtime. Story is gripping and even though I was translating, it kept our interest and quite funny about the dragons and marshmallows.

More About the Author

Stephanie Barrett realized at the ripe old age of eight that she wanted to become an author more than anything in the world. After college, Stephanie's love of children led her to teach preschool, where she drew constant inspiration for story ideas from the amazing children in her class.

The idea for A Dragon's Work Is Never Done, however, didn't come from one of Stephanie's preschool students. Instead, it came from a street food vendor selling sandwiches with mustard so spicy that it seemed entirely possible to turn into a full-fledged, fire-breathing dragon after taking a bite.

Stephanie lives with her husband, dog, and cat in central Florida.
