Roark is a dragon rider on a mission to find his dragon. The years he spends on his quest hone him into a man of honor and duty who is very aware of his station in life. He exists to protect and serve; not daring to dream fate would offer him anything more.

Nira is a princess who is being trained by her father the king, to one day rule their land. Unfortunately there are gaps in her education that only a lover can fill. She is born with a singular, unmanageable gift that will either help her people survive the threat of war, or force them to succumb to it.

Kraz is the ancient dragon who enables both of them to reach their full potential.

This story is a classic tale of two people finding love where they least expect it. The author deftly suspends disbelief with characters that are skillfully drawn of both light and dark, with human failings we all understand. Set against the backdrop of war and magic, this is a wonderful tale of love and adventure. The thing that moves this story from ordinary to extraordinary is the relationship between Kraz, his rider, and the future queen. I couldn't stop turning pages because I had to know what would happen next.

I truly hope there will be more installments in the Portals of Destiny Tales. In my opinion, KH LeMoyne has crafted another must read story. If you're a fan of fantasy romance, add this to the top of your TBR list.

It has been a long while since I have read a story with dragons in it. I am very critical when it comes to these books. I must say that I am pleased beyond words. I was captured from the beginning til the end. I do warn that this is NOT a book for children, teens or young adult book, as the one sex scene is very descriptive. I think anyone who has love of dragons would LOVE this story.

This is the second story I have read by this author and both have not disappointed. She has the amazing gift of switching between genres with effortless ease. I loved Dragon Riders Gift for its vivid setting, captivating characters and story line. I usually skip through most sex scenes these days as most are erotica inserted into an otherwise enjoyable story. The one sex scene in Dragon Riders Gift was passionate and sweet, descriptive without the smut. Roark was the perfect tutor to Nira's education. It made me sigh with envy. Kraz the red dragon is wonderful, he demands centre stage at all times. Roark is Kraz's rider but no one can claim ownership of this ancient opionated and lovable dragon. The dialogue between Roark and Kraz is at times hilarious and I love how the tough, warrior caterers to the dragons smallest whim. I'm hoping for a sequel where Kraz gets his own family and I get more of these delightful characters...

I read my first dragon rider book in middle school many, many years ago when I read the Dragons of Pern series. I would love to be a dragon rider. The popularity of the movie and book of Eragon have brought dragon rider books into the mainstream, something those of us who already loved them are thrilled about.
This story is enthralling. I love the world created and the manner in which the dragon and rider bond is forged. This is one I hadn't heard before and love. Add a psychic Princess to the mix and you have a definitely good read. There is so much I want to say about the books, the storyline, and the magnificent world created, but I don't want to give anything away as this story is that good.
What I can say is that the story is a romance, adventure, fantasy, magical, coming of age, foretelling, warrior, battle fighting, epic story. I give it 5 out of 5 clouds.

4.5 out of 5 stars. "Three souls. Two hearts. And a bond that links them all." is how this novel is best described! I LOVED the characters!! Kraz is an egotistical dragon who put humor throughout this novel! While Roark & Nira have chemistry that flies off the page and wouldn't slow down! Then to top it off the plot was fast-paced and made me not want to put it down!! Wonderful!

I hope that there will be a story about Lord Joach since he went from being the most hated character to one of my favorite characters in the novel! Plus, there were quite a few other secondary characters that were enticing too (like Nira's bodyguard, Aegon).

I highly recommend this novel to anyone who likes paranormal romances that have a lot of action and a bit of erotica in them!!

I only review books I give 4 or 5 stars, because I like sharing the stories I loved reading. "Dragon Rider's Gift" is one of those. As usual, KH LeMoyne did not disappoint. This book is an off-shoot of "Return of the Legacy, Portals of Destiny." I hope with all my heart, she writes more of the Portals of Destiny series and especially the Dragon Riders.

Roark of Nedres has spent his absorbing lore, legend, and rumor to claim his dragon beast. It started when he was a young boy fascinated by the tales his grandfather, a dragon rider, told him. Then when he entered the military he heard more tales, including stories/whispers/rumors that as a solider alerted him that his world was endanger. All would be lost to an evil mage. So, he sets off to find an adult dragon he can bond with, but first he must gather the necessary tools and discovers the dragon's lair.

Princess Nira Meriel Estar had the power of prophecy. These are told through paintings she makes along the castle hallways. When in the grip of the prophecy, she's blind yet sees everything she's painting. Her most recent visions warn of the destruction of their world.

When Roark finds his dragon, Kraz--who I absolutely, 100% love--and they come to an agreement, the two head for the capital to rally the populace. During this time, Nira's paintings are incomplete but show Roark and Kraz leading the battle to save their world.

This story is a classic tale of two people finding love when they least expect it--during a war. Of course, Kraz helped them along. War and magic, adventure and love, redemption and salvation, this story has it all.

I hope we see more of Kraz and the other characters we're introduced to soon. Okay, I admit it, I'm a KH LeMoyne addict.... Put this as your next book on your TBR list and once you've read it, you'll join me in reading all her books--a number of times. Read more ›
