Book Description

Zentrepreneur Guides April 2003
The new inspirational and motivational "zentrepreneur's guide" with a focus on marketing, from the authors of the highly-acclaimed, life-changing Success at Life, the two self-described "zentrepeneurs" who run the unique, socially-conscious company where life and work are an interconnected adventure.

Ancient wisdom and timeless philosophies, knotted together with state-of-the-art insights and observations, address the realities of the marketplace, demystifying the fears and terrors of marketing a dream that captures the soul. This fast- paced, witty excursion will encourage and inspire, inspirit and enthuse as never before by moving the reader ever onward, empowering them to experience the wows and the wonders of their richly deserved dream.

With their trademark wit and passion, the authors tell how to: Jettison toxic blocking beliefs • Discover the discipline of perseverance • Maintain faith in the face of "dream killers" • Embrace design to create a visual identity • Build a buzz • Do well by doing good • Enjoy the journey.

Rubin and Gold will awaken you to the most important distinction you will ever make: While entrepreneurs get hold of an idea, Zentrepreneurs allow an idea to get hold of them.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

In the company The Republic of Tea, employees are "ministers" and its tea-buying customers are "citizens." Ministers Rubin and Gold (chairman and COO, respectively) bring the same quirky perspective to their new tome, a motivational handbook that wavers between cute and cloying. The main thesis is similar to that of any number of books designed to inspire budding entrepreneurs : people should be "one with their dream," and to achieve it, they must "sell the hell out of themselves." No surprises there, but at least the authors can write, and press ahead with their insistent brightness. The book briefly gets into more serious details-e.g., the relative advantages of setting up a sole proprietorship or a joint venture-but then returns to bland exhortations. The occasional jolts of Chinese philosophy (invoking classic texts like the I Ching and Tao Te Ching) and the authors' personal stories of their international search for fabulous teas are the (tea)pot's best ingredients. Other than that, the brew is somewhat weak.

Those familiar with The Republic of Tea will get some real insight to the how behind the WOW of that very cool brand. While it is obvious that Gold is the one putting the witty pen to paper it is just as obvious that both Rubin and Gold want you in on their secret to business success; Avoid dream killers-Be different, Embrace design, Build buzz, Change your experience, change the experience of others, etc. This is a read which you will refer to again and again-each time learning something important and new.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worthy of anyone's time..., August 11, 2003
This review is from: Dragon Spirit: How to Self-Market Your Dream--A Zentrepreneur's Guide (Hardcover)
Once again, a book written by the original Zentrepreneurs has crossed my desk. I was changed for the better after reading their first slim volume. And after reading their latest work, I am nothing except positive that my dreams can become real. I've taken the time to savor this book. It's street-wise, business-world savvy and just plain life-enhancing. Simply put -- this small book is wonderful. I've made it mandatory re-reading.
