5.0 out of 5 stars The Dragon Tamer, November 1, 2001

Wow, I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars! I am such a fan of Jane's and was so excited about her new book, the Dragon Tamer. All of Jane's books are very romantic and this new one is no different, although I thought it was a little more erotic than her others but very tastefully done! You are just going to love the story of the plain widow, Eleanor and the handsome Dragon Tamer! I read this in one day!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book Award for 2001, December 13, 2001

This wonderful book should be on everyone's Must Read List! Multi-published Jane Bonander introduces a fascinating hero, Dante Templeton. "He was a carnal man" is the opening description but we soon learn that Dante's powerful sexuality and fearsome tattoos masking scars on his chest are mere surface characteristics of this deeply complex man. Widow Eleanor Rayburn is homeless and penniless when she meets Dante Templeton, who is determined that her ship will never hunt whales again. A cast of needy children and insensitive relatives contribute to further emotional layering in The Dragon Tamer and the wonderfully satisfying ending will make you wish this book never ended...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Dragon Tamers, July 9, 2003

The chilling reality of nuclear weapons should be enough to interest us in the events and persons that created them, but the history lesson in the Manhattan Project is far from all that makes The Dragon Tamers a 'must read'. Tom Wolfram, himself a distinguished scientist, has not only recreated the tensions of the time and brought to life the pertinent events, leaders, and scientists (including spies), he has fashioned a novel with compelling human interest.

The story centers around physicist Michael Ericksson, his lover and fellow scientist Kathleen O'Connell, and a most vengeful arch-villian, Klaus Kriegmann. There were, in fact, real spies who compromised the A-bomb project -most notably Klaus Fuchs -but Kriegmann, seeks not only to sabotage the project, he is also committed to torture-murdering Ericksson as revenge for an earlier confrontation. The story comes to a dramatic climax as the lovers are trapped by Kriegmann atop the tower on which the first test of the A-bomb is minutes from occurring.

The fascinating fictional component of The Dragon Tamers is alone quite enough to make this action thriller almost impossible to put down. But for me there is second and important reason that this book should be read. The history of the creation of nuclear weapons is an essential part of our understanding of today's world and the threat now posed by rogue nations. No history book tells the story nearly as well as The Dragon Tamers does.
